Combination Manipulations

Today was completely exhausting. I don't know why but I have crashed. I don't remember this morning. I remember macaroni and cheese. I remember Angel Pagan hitting a homerun. I did a lot of part manipulations today, and that can be time consuming, mind numbing and eye straining. Not a good combination. You know what is a good combination tho... my head and this pillow. Alarm's set for five. Dani tomorrow.

Sundays Could Suck

Sundays where Laura works are tough, for all of us. Yuula's got a 9 hour tolerance and then if she doesn't get some fresh stock she flips. Luckily today followed two days of her refusing to take naps so girl was beat. I got lucky. But mom is home and we've somehow tuned into the Oscars. Don't think I've ever sat thru one these. It's going alright I guess.

Out In The Big Wide Open

In our new life where significant milestones are measured in ounces and inches it's easy to get excited about seemingly everyday occurrences. Exhibit A: today we had to do some grocery shopping and to drop a little wrench in the gears we decided to forgo the carseat/buggy combination and go directly to the carriage seat. Cut out the middle man. She seemed a little freaked out from overexposure but in turn had an actual and genuine grocery shopping experience and is the better for it.

No Life Like The Snow Life

This was my theme song the past few months that I should've sang while I dug us out almost every morning. Instead, and for some unknown reason, it was the classic Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock track "It Takes Two". If I could choose which tune would've been stuck in my head it would've been the Walkmen.

Here's to the end of that.

Much Prefers Mister Macchio

This is a video of Yuula reviewing the new Karate Kid movie starring lil' Will Smith and Jackie Chan.

Yeah. Not good.

She's A Playa

P1250842

Officially my new favorite daily happening is not my morning tea or my mid afternoon back stretch but in the evening when we sit down on the couch to pretend to watch TV when in fact the show is on the floor in front of us. Since the girl's been sitting up she's become quite the little player. Now we can prop her up, dump her favorite playthings around her and she goes to town, giving each toy they fair share of shaking and dribbling on. I could watch her do this all night but she just fell over so... I gotta go.

Boyz 4 Lyfe

Tom & I have been keeping in touch, better than we have in the past 10 years, mostly by sending each other random photos of our daily humdrum in hopes to reconnect on the cellular level. It's working I think.

Today Tom sent me a photo of his arm and the tattoo on it.

I have a similar one, slightly less apocalyptic.

I don't remember the conversation that led us up to getting matching tattoos, nonetheless one of a sword-wielding little pigtailed girl, but it happened and we are forever connected in the ink. Isn't that special?

Frozen Brick Of Bean

The soup du jour.

P1250836

I tried to defrost it by dropping the bag into hot water but the bag had a hole in it so it was getting watered down. Looks gross, like a nasty snickers, but it tasted delicious still. Sad it's gone.

Poor Man Pays Twice

That's an old Russian proverb and it couldn't apply to us more. We're on our third vacuum since living in this house in less than as many years. We buy crappy ones that can't handle our degree of refuse therefore breaking them in a variety of ways. Good thing Laura likes vacuum shopping.

And while Mom & Dad were choring around the house today we decided it was a good time to break out the playpen and see how she fared. We dropped a few of her toys in there and cushioned her bum and she was happy as a lark. Looks like we got a new station to work into the daily routine.

george

While we were tidying up I caught wind of the concert for George Harrison streaming online for free today. I dialed up the Google TV and we had it in surround & HD. Now I know why we got this thing. Great show. Yuula likes Ravi Shankar. Go figure. But I forgot how many of George's songs I loved. Gonna have to revisit this some weekend. You can watch it online here for the next 13 hours. Or this may be enough...

Look, The Baby Is Crying

This was one of those days. I can't think of anything significant enough to write about. Sorry. Some days just start and end and the stuff in between is totally indistinguishable. From the beginning this day was off tho. Laura left the house without waking us up. I woke up wrong. Since then I've been off. I could tell you how Yuula is sitting up so much better now. Or how we had tilapia doused in Mediterranean sea salt for dinner and I've had too much wine. We're trying to get rid of our white wine. Don't care for it.

Making Our Way In The World Today

Today. 8am. Let Me In. Four stars. Can't tell if it's better than the original. Special K oat & honey. 10:30 am. The Station Agent. Four stars. Better than expected. Leftover Auntie Anne's. Worse than necessary. 1pm. Cyrus. Fell asleep a little. Not as funny as we thought. Three stars. Yogurt with strawberries and granola. 3pm. Check the mail. Finally a check. Dress and leave for the bank. 5:30pm. Check Home Depot for pellets. No dice. 5:45pm. Check Target for new vacuum. No dice. 7pm. Home. Chicken & rice for dinner. Four stars. Flipping between Office reruns and Raiders of the Lost Ark. 9:24pm. Took this photo of me. Four stars. Now? Bed. All in all. Good day. Tomorrow? Back to it.

This Is Considered Multitasking

Watching pops work can be exhausting.

Fat Anne's Intestines

1298243126735

My favorite, and only reason to go to any American mall these days is Auntie Anne's, so you can imagine my joy when I we picked up a box to make our own at home. Just like anything tho, it turned into a minor disaster with pretzels resembling swollen intestines or a drawer full of tangled power cords. But the one of a kind taste was there and that's all that really matters. Isn't it?

Weather Didn't Get The Memo

I thought we were done with this stuff. I can't tell you how surprised I was this morning when I went over to turn up the fire and caught a glimpse of white mountains on the back deck. We were making such progress with all the melting. And now I gotta go suit up in plastic and get out with the shovel. I can't believe I'm gonna say this but... here's to warmer days.
