Pain Relief For Summer Teeth

In another all too thrilling day in the life, I had an ingrown toenail removed the size of a dime. It's always good when you can impress the doctor. He was impressed. Can't wait to do it again next year.

Other than that, we caved and installed the air conditioner today. Yuula still managed to take a sweatnap, and a classic one to boot. She feathered her own hair and needed an immediate bath or she threatened to cry.

As close as I'd get

Then she watched the culprit ride of into itself as I cooked dinner. Tomorrow we meet it head on. good thing I bought that new tiny pool. Move on over kid.

Odissi: Who The Waves Are Roaring For

song of the day(s)

one of my most anticipated this year, did not disappoint

because Colin Stetson's saxophoning was already intriguing enough, and then you add Justin Vernon...

Abe Flipping Flapjacks

The excuse I will use is that it's Danny Elfman's birthday, but really I just love the shit out of this movie.

Drooling In The Drizzle

It's her version of Singing in the Rain

ok, sorry

Starts With A Floater, Ends With A Sweller

And it went a little something like this...

Dead bird. That was the start of my Memorial Day.  I placed it in front of the tool shed, where I think that grey kitten is hiding out. It was disappeared just seconds later. Busted. The rest of the day was better tho. Continuing our run of mini-projects in the yard. Insisting on the small stuff is both instantly rewarding and supremely satisfying. Unfortunately the day is soon coming where I have to dive into some heavier dutier duties, but let's not worry about that now.

First official lunch in the shade garden I started. It is gonna work out just fine I think, mainly because we finally sat in that corner of the yard, for the first time in 5 years. We got it. May as well use it.

That's Yuula eating lunch.

We were invited to the Trunks for a Memorial BBQ, but it was shortlived due to both Isabella and Dunja having fairly severe allergy issues. Swollen eyes and sullen dispositions make for bad hosts. And we told them so. We may not see them ever again. That is until the pollen count dies down a bit.

Places To Go / Time To Get To Them

Been shooting black/white for a couple days now. Sometimes you just get in the mood. Memorial Day happened. We worked in the yard and had dinner with the Trunks. Details to follow. I've had this set of assembly instructions hanging over me for what seems like forever. I swear I'm almost done tho. One more day. Maybe. Our trip is coming up and it's heads down til then. It's fairly legit vacation, and a new destination is being added every day. We better leave before the places to go outnumber the time we have to go to them.

Laura's at the gym. Better than at a bomb scare I suppose. Oh we didn't tell you about that one. Next time we see you. Laura's still diffusing. Pun intended.

Grand Total Tutus

Yuula got a gift in the mail from one Christian of the Ellesmere-Jones clan. Whodatunk it, a perfect fit. And honestly Yuula getting tired of her old tutus. I'm kidding. She frigin loves the things. Sometimes she wears six or seven a day. Top it off with a flowered headband and Yuula had her day made, which is sometimes not the easiest thing to make. Somedays all I've got for her is some loose change or a youtube kitty video.

Thanks 'tian

Re-Strike The Lightning

Confession. There is a VERY good chance that despite my fifty day countdown, my month and a half long obsession with the return, that we will not watch the new shows tomorrow. There is an even BETTER chance that we won't watch them tomorrow night, or even Monday. The list of reasons is long and dull. I am thinking maybe Thursday night, or Saturday. Who knows. But it doesn't mean we're not stoked. And if anything it will give us the chance to finish playing catch-up. Since it's been a few years since we've seen the original episodes we came up with the genius idea to watch them all again before May 26th. How'd that go? We're almost at the end of season 1. Only like 40 more to go. Heh.

But, after watching a few previews, a few clips from the latest, I gotta say, I'm not blown away. And I know I can't judge an entire collection of shows by 15 second clips, but my trepidation is not so much due to the new material letting down as much as watching the old stuff has proven such sitcom perfection that I fear they'll never be able to re-strike the lightning. And they won't. But that's okay. It'll still be better than 100% of what's on TV today. That would be 100%.

Smells Like Ethyl Acetate

A day firmly set at the monitor, Yuula left to her own devices. At one point I checked in and she was watching Reservoir Dogs. She has learned to use the remotes, to her own chagrin. Laura home late with grocery refill and a makeshift dinner at 9pm. Not typical, but not rare. And now the girls are blow-drying their nails. The stink is noxious. I bet it's pink.....

yup. It's pink.

song of the day

is this better than the lp version?

Plain Yoghurt And Grey Sparkles

Today was only slightly dull. It rained on and off. Yuula took a 6 hour nap. I had plain yoghurt for lunch. We didn't even cook dinner because it was crockpotted and ready. I didn't really hear any good music. Not much in the news. No games. No drama. Minimal diaper changes. No tv shows. So I took photos in black and white.

Tomorrow may or may not be in color

Might Not Deliver You All The Way Home

song of the day

perfect hammocking tune today

Old Yeller'd My Old Yellas

Yeah, I think it was time to be put out to pasture.

Ecstatic About Something Being Nothing

This will be one of those reads that most will probably not care too much about, but it has been an ongoing saga with myself to finally clear up the evergrowing pile of wood scraps that has been accumulating behind the shed for four years. Today I finally pulled the last nail and each piece is placed safely on my lumber shed.

That is until it collapses to due to poor carpentry.

As an added little bonus I found this critter hiding out at the bottom of the mess. I think it's Nohito's. He's gone now. Hopefully in a safer place.

Laura wants to name him Noyoi.

At Birth We Made A Deal

song of the day

heavy

Obstinant Oscillate

It was HOT today. It was 30 last weekend. Today it was 86. And humid. I am not ready for that. The house has no fans ready, except this little guy, but I was wondering why I couldn't stay cool...

Yeah that was boring huh? That was my fan decided to move all by itself.  Riveting footage.

But at least I gave you a good song.

Declaring Independence With Buttermilk

While I was out turning off the sprinklers today the Buttermilks were passing by on one of their daily walkabouts, and they invited Yuula over for a playdate. Yuula looked at me and said "You stay here". What can I do at that point? Off they went. Yuula's had her fair share of playdates, but none have been decided upon by her alone. But that was fine, I had much to do and I knew she'd have more fun there with Matthew & Victoria than hanging out with me. Again. As usual.

Plus when I went to get her I got this...

Love those Buttermilks.

I'm Not Ready For The Way You Dance

song of the day

not much I don't like these days

Yet The Fish Lives

Yuula: "Daddy-O, I feed the fish all by myself!"

Daddy-O: "I see that. What happened?"

Yuula: "I make a mess"

Daddy-O: "How did you make this mess?"

Yuula: "It came out the jar"

Daddy-O: "No, I mean how did the fish food get on the table?"

Yuula: {pause to ponder the question} "We buy it from the store!"

Daddy-O: "Why is the fish food all over the table?"

Yuula: "Sometimes I make a mess"

Daddy-O: "Are you crazy?"

Yuula: "Yeah, and Mommy too!"

Living Historically And Just A Little Bit Damp

The rain didn't want us to work in the yard again today. It's already begun to be a bit of a worry, but hey, who doesn't want a lazy day here and again. So we thought we'd do some flower hunting and see if we could show Yuula some horses, her new infatuation.

Ross and Ross first, under a little drizzle, but Laura had a big pot to fill and they were having a an open house with free cookies, so a little something for everyone.

Then we thought we'd see what this Quiet Valley Historical Living Farm was all about. Long story short, we became members and plan to be back as often as possible, hopefully once a month or so.

We brought Yuula to the schoolhouse for some drawing, sing-a-longs, BINGO, and a little play about a lamb murdering a wolf in the river.

Yuula caught fish and pet the largest bunny I've ever seen.

She couldn't ride a horse but being pulled by clydesdales seemed just as effective. She loved it.

Then the highlight was the hay jump, which is exactly what it sounds like. Children jumping off an 8 foot platform into bales of hay, in a dark barn.

Weird but she had such a blast that after an hour of hay jumping she still cried when they place closed down.

Then we ended the day the only way we know how.

Getting rained out ain't so bad
