Classic Spooking Be Damned

Ahh the good ol' days. I remember them fondly. Now we have crap like "trunk or treating" and moving Halloween to weekends. Last year Halloween was canceled for crying out loud! Yeah I know, the power was out across the tri-state area but how perfect is that!? Darkness everywhere! Potential trespassing! No way to call for help when you're attacked in moonlit alleys! C'mon people.

What's The Use Of Making A Bed?

song of the day

How To Eat A Triceratops

1. Get a good grip on the neck frill

2. Tear the head off to expose the tasty neck muscles

3. Nibble on the soft flesh of the Triceratops' face

4. Feast on the delicacies beneath the frill

Felines Hunker Too

Poor guys.

(I bet they're actually quite cozy)

I opened the shed for them but they chose this doormat over the safety and security of our finely built potting shed.

The Only Win In The East

It's always certain to be a good game when the Giants play the Cowboys. Maybe it's the forced notion of fandom or the misguided insinuation of "America's team" but there's no one I think Giants fans enjoy beating more than Jerry Jones and his cohorts. And the sad thing is I kind of like some of the Cowboys. Romo and crew are sympathetic figures somehow, but I still snickered and screamed at each of the 4 interceptions and other turnovers that occurred yesterday.

Of course the final quarter or so of the game left a bad taste in my mouth as far as having any confidence in my team. It has long been the word out on the Giants that they can get a little stagnant when they don't feel challenged (see losses to Seattle and twice to Washington last year). But despite a last minute drive and some poorly chosen epithets shouted at the screen in those final seconds, NY prevails, Jerry Jones sucks, and all is right with the world.

Giants went 6-2 with that win. Eagles, Redskins, and Dallas all lost and only have 3 wins so far.

Paranoiapocalypse

It must've been because I left the weather channel on last night when we went to bed and all the paranoia sunk into our heads, because this morning we both woke up and said, "we should go to the grocery store." We feared for the worst, a madhouse, empty shelves, rioting in the streets, etc.

This is what we saw...

Ample supply and minimal clientele. They were out of D batteries, but we found them next door, so, disaster averted.

So we got out a about, no riots, no apocalypse, yet. This is supposed to be a doozy. We got our power outage preparedness kit together.

More Than I Thought Could Exist

song of the day

I wasn't too hot on the xx first time around but I do love this song and most of the rest of the new. Got that?

PS this format will be the extent of my music coverage from here on til whenever I find the time/desire to do the AQ rundown or current albums again. #busybusy

Here Come Some Darkness

Guess this is happening soon. Like tomorrow. Oddly enough we lost power this morning, only for a minute, but, I suppose that was the dry run. At this point I'd just like to see the Giants game tomorrow. So give me til 7:30 Sandy baby. Then you can have your devastation.

So Much For Classing Up The Place

When they tore down the Pocono Bazaar we had high hopes that whatever they moved in would really class up the joint. Maybe a Wegmans or a Whole Foods. We dreamed of taking our days off with their salad bar and Chinese foods and long hours making discoveries in their international aisle. But it was not meant to be. We found out last week that we will be getting a Price Chopper. I don't even know what that is. It looks too patriotic.

Yes!

Am I aware that this is most likely 10x as difficult to set up as the traditional tent I currently struggle with?

I Need Some New Catchphrases

The first images from the new season of Arrested Development pooped up a few days ago. I gotta say I am pretty stoked for this bad boy. I'm ready to erase my entire DVR schedule and dedicate myself solely to the Bluths and their incomparable hilarities. That's right New Girl. I'm talking to you. Zooey, you've worn off and I don't care for the douche Schmidt has become. There, I said it.

These Girls Fall Like Dominos

song of the day

oh yeah, this one

Girls Love Their Gourds

It was no surprise that the day we planned to head out and get some pumpkins it rained unrelenting. We have come to expect this. So we headed off to Country Junction where we knew we could grab some gourds with little exposure to the elements. Of course when we got there it was suddenly 80 degrees and sunny, but hey, we like the Country Junction.

We may come back Sunday for the festivities, officially

Yuula chose her own pumpkins this year, much to our dismay, she has a thing for the ugly ones

song of the day

Root For The Least Recent

I would have liked to see a Baltimore/Washington series, or even see Oakland get a swing at things, but it was abundantly clear early on in the playoffs that that wasn't in the cards (no pun intended). So we got stuck with the top four that your Grandma could've predicted and at this point I gotta go with the only team not to have won one of the last three World Series. So, Go Detroit!(?) I do like the Giants, and I'd love to see my boy Angel Pagan get a ring, so I'm not gonna campaign too hard. Just putting it out there.

But it would be convenient to root for both Giants in two separate sports, even if it was just for the weekend.

Annual Spook Shoot

It is now official tradition to gather at Dansbury Park and take photos of the kids in Halloween garb. We oblige.

Yuula's costume came with whiskers

And after a long weekend of playing with the boys all she wanted to do was muster up a game of baby tackle football
