It's My Friday Good

The theme of the day is "Nemesis Exchange". Doesn't matter why, just know. And that up there, that is a feather from when I obliterated a cardinal on 33 the other morning. I guess I was his nemesis that day. But I always win so.....

This time tomorrow we'll know what kind of pants our baby needs.

Early this morning I asked a fellow coworker, an elderly gentleman named Carl, how his weekend went. He said "All my weekends are magnificent."

I sigh. Soon.

Touché Nimrod

I made this.

Then I asked this girl at work, that I lovingly refer to as Nimrod, if she needed anything off the top shelf... because I had built a staircase. I thought it was hilarious.

Then she came back with, "No but can I borrow your phone to make a call? I don't get good service in here like you."

Touché Nimrod. Touché.

That May Be It

I may have taught my final rehearsal. Down in Sitao today, trying to give them a little clarification. Don't think it went very well. But when I left I couldn't help but think that I may never teach again. The Roxbury thing is up in the air. Was supposed to start this month, but didn't, so I'm not going to be surprised if I'm not there this fall. Cadets is already out. I told Daniel & April & Emma back in February that I was done for real this time. I may do a week in Ooltewah, only because they'll pay me twice as much as I could make at home, but I gotta see if I can get an additional week off in June. Already going down to Georgia in the beginning of July for Laura's southern baby shower. And the Sitao thing... I just don't know. I think they need something else. So that may be it...

...and that is fine with me.

Training Wheels On

I don't think that title is the appropriate phrase I'm looking for but... they got me training people today. Not even a full time employee and barely a month on the job and now I'm teaching other people what I barely know. I guess I couldn't do much worse than the people who taught me. But when Montell Jordan's "This Is How We Do It" played not once but twice, I found the confidence. True story.

Tonight is macaroni & cheese night. Like the old fashioned kind. A little Office, maybe get some work done on the computer since I did move it all downstairs. Early to bed I'm guessing tho. Laura didn't sleep well. Baby didn't like the Swedish beef curry we made. That is devastating.

Computing A New Locale

P1180031

I moved the computer and all its devices this evening. I was pretty nervous that I would lose something or not be able to reattach all the cables correctly, but alas, on first try everything booted up and ran like champs.

P1180036

Originally we thought having the computer up in its own "office" would be the mature thing to do, but now it's like every time we have to do something online we're being sent to the corner of the house on punishment detail. Plus now I have this sweet double screen view of computer & television. There's no stopping me now. First thing I did? Play Michael Jackson's greatest hits album. The Girl Is Mine: classic. Oop! Dinner time!

Temple Of The Winds

A plague of prophecy. The red moon will bring the firestorm. Wielding the sword of truth Rahl has battled death itself and come to the defense of the O'Haran people....

Ha! I'm just kidding. That ain't my book. But those are my biscoffs. Have em everyday. Easy day today. Early in/early out. Got things to do on the homefront and and need the time to do it. Moving the computer downstairs so I can multitask between my files and my shows. Guarantee that at 10pm I'm either asleep or pissed. You're this close Lost (holds pointer and thumb close together).

This fridge is on high. My salad is frozen!

Sprung Has Spring

P1170938

Oh lovely day. It was ridiculous on Sunday! We've been dreading the work that has to be done in the yard after this winter, but the nothing could stop us from suiting up, or down, and jumping off the front porch in this lovely weather. Of course today it's raining and chilly, so I guess it'll make us appreciate yesterday that much more.

P1170954

Things of spring, like spring cleaning... we finally got all the Christmas stuff out of the back room and into the shed, now that I've sold my CD shelves, there's finally room. But now there's boxes of CDs in the house. It's a win/lose situation. But at least it feels progressive. Wreaths & snowmen & mangers & tree skirts & light strands gone til next year. Or later this year.

P1170959

And animals! Birds chirping everywhere. A moment of the day was spent listening to the bird calls go back and forth and pretending we understood. Those birds say some crazy shit. The cats are out and L'Schtuppe found a frog. We giddily watched her chase the hippity-hopper across the front yard and then shrieked in horror as she munched off one of his legs. Whoops.

P1180009

And BBQ! You know this pregnant woman couldn't wait to crack open that treasure trunk, sealed in frozen abandon all winter, just staring at us from the back porch wondering what on Earth we could be eating all this time. We cracked it open and it was as glad to see us as we were it. Laura had pork steak on the thaw, as if she'd been planning this moment for years now. She chopped up some potatoes into wedges and cooked up some corn. What a meal for a spring celebrate! Then she did this...

The Return of Coco

This is either gonna be awesome, or awesomer. If only for the fact that he'll probably draw more audience members to each venue than Leno brings to network TV every night. Yup, still not over that fast food fart of a talkshow host. He'll be at Radio City for two nights in early June. I am seriously considering buying tickets. But I probably won't.

Everyone Was Wearing Fingerless Gloves

Normally I would overlook this corny SNL stuff, but maybe it was because of the inclusion of Julian Casablancas (he makes anything cooler), or maybe I'm becoming less cynical, but this had me laughing out loud this morning.

Haha A Boombox Is Not A Toy! But I still don't see what Joanna Newsom sees in Andy Samberg.

Looking Big

Looking pregnant...

Why I Love My Wife

Here is a story I read to Laura from our local paper under the "News of the Weird" headlines:
A plane contracted by the U.S. Postal Service may have lost up to two bags of priority mail on a flight from Billings to Kalispell, totaling up to roughly 25 pounds of cargo.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 20, according to USPS spokesperson Lisa Blomquist. A door on the plane came unlatched mid-flight, said Alpine Air Express CEO Gene Mallette, and it was found ajar when the plane landed in Kalispell. There was still mail in the bay, Mallette said, and it is still uncertain if priority mail fell out during the flight.

"We could have lost a couple bags but that is undetermined at this point," Mallette said.

Original reports from USPS indicated that two bright orange bags of priority mail fell out of the door during a snowstorm. However, Mallette said that may not have happened and both Alpine Air and USPS are flying over the area to look for any missing bags. Snow has visually impeded the search so far, Blomquist said. If the bags fell, it was somewhere between Eddie’s Corner near Billings and Kalispell, leaving a large area to scour.
To this, my wife says:
"Don't they have tracking numbers?"
And that is why I love my wife.

Right Around Ruby

My parents got married today. About 40 years ago today, but today nonetheless. Their traditional gift should be ruby, so I'm guessing like Ruby Tuesday's or something. Maybe listen to "Ruby Baby". Wasn't that by Tony Sheridan? Poor Tony. Anyhow, Happy Anniversary! Love ya.

Hell Yes

P1170896

It's official, As of today, March 18th 2010 at 5:50pm the last pile of snow from our yard had melted. We've thawed. Where once there stood a mighty snowman is now just a random pile of stone and scarf. I'm wearing a t-shirt and slippers, with no socks! All the cats are out and enjoying the warmth. Except Dents of course. Never in my life have I been so pleased by weather. I will look forward to this now every year, along with the first red leafy tree and the first flake of snow.

A Triple Decker Kinda Day

Laura made me a humongous turkey sandwich this morning. A triple decker. Or maybe this is a double decker with a roof on it. Either way it's almost gone.

Almost done today. Feet hurt. Was gonna go home a spend the night with Laura eating tater tot casserole and watching the Lost, but thanks to some multi-car pile up on 80 she couldn't get thru the gap this morning and now has to work the late shift. So home tonight alone, probably some cataloging and uploading or something. Or maybe turn in early. Either way, I'm still gonna have the casserole.

Not Meant For Man

Oh Lord Today!

Baby Wants A Cheese Coney

At the midwives. Laura's peeing in a cup. There doesn't seem to be a long wait. Not sure what new developments we're in for this time. Last visit we heard the heartbeat. That was huge. Don't know that tonight will be as monumental. We will see.

After this we'll hit Sonic. Seems to become a tradition. It's the only time we eat out anymore. I think Laura may be scheduling extra appointments just so she can get her hands on an extra long cheese coney.

God Bring Me Deaf

Ok. So I've joined the workforce and I'm lucky enough to work in a place that likes to blast the tunes all day long. Music is motivation. I love all the 80's mixes and the Tom Petty and Beatles (early Beatles mind you). I don't even mind the better Aerosmith stuff, but from there it gets ugly. Horrible "modern rock" and painfully cliché country muck doesn't even scratch the surface. The scourge of decent music everywhere, Nickelback galore makes no apologies, nor does the Backstreet/N'Sync ballads, the old school Metallica, and a country pop remake of Mockingbird that is the audio equivalent of letting loose in a room full of beagle puppies with an M60. Is nothing sacred?

I expressed my concerns to my fellow employee who seems deemed to pick and choose the potentially deadly playlist. I call her DJ Mixmaster Melissa. She said she would love some recommendations. So we sat down on a 15 and went thru a few things. It did not go well, and maybe I started off too far down the road from what was comfortable for her, but extreme times....

I played a favorite tune from Battles, Tij, since she expressed enjoyment in drum tracks, I thought this may be a safe bet. She countered with this...

It took every ounce of my being to not stab myself in the ears with the plastic forks. I took it down a notch and knowing she was a fan of sappy ballads I played her some of the gentle brilliance of the Grizzly Bear.

She replied with...
"I have Johnny B. Goode!"
Game over.

That Machine Kills Fascists

IMAG0060
Another week in the can. A little balancing and projection and things are looking up. Or at least they will be. Laura's addicted to powdered donuts. Eaten two boxes in just under three days and there's no end in sight. A nice lazy week end to a long tiresome week. Gonna try for a repeat next. Maybe a threepeat. See if that's possible.

P1170831P1170841

We watched I'm Not There today. Been sitting in the folder for over a year now. I really liked its meandering but I was in and out. Beat the hell out of all those dinoshark and giant crocodile movies that were on yesterday. Why couldn't I have been tired then? Maybe I was.

Girls Night, In.. Down

P1170818

It's girls night out. Or girls night in. They're downstairs, eating pizza and talking about God knows what. Girl things. I'm better off tuning them out. Høgni is being cautious.

P1170820

Week is half over. I'm beat and ready for bed. Just waiting for my dad to call me back... trying to help him print something out online... there's issues.. or something.

P1170813

Laura officially looks pregnant. Strangers asked. I think that's a sign. Brave move if you ask me. You never know 100%. Could really insult someone.

P1170815

We've been getting the cats back outside. We forgot that Obladi likes to roll in the soot. She's no longer a calico. She's just black. Stupid cats.

Stay And Guard The Door And More

I heard this song last night.

I like it today.

Tonight You'll Be Able

Dead Ferrets To Couch Thieves

These guys are stealing our couch! I saw them on the 209 connector!

I'm kidding. That is our couch tho. Just a newer version, one that hasn't been sat on for 10 years.

Day one of the week down. I don't wanna turn into one of those people who wish the week away, yet here we are. But it was a fine day. Started slow with some awful new age ballad station on the satellite. Then Tonya told us the story of how she had to kill Sara's (yes I am going to act like you know these people by name) ferret over the weekend. It was a pity killing. Then she threw it in the garbage. Sentimental bunch. Ryan & I bonded over music when he told me I had to check out "this band called Mew". How do you be polite in a situation like that? I turned him onto Battles & the mighty Broken Social Scene. We'll see how that went over tomorrow. Then the crusher: Bumbag Larry got canned. And just as I was getting used to his condescending comments and holier than thou attitude. One upping no more Larry. One upping no more. But I've been given free reign over my hours and plan on using it. We may be setting a new record this week folks. We'll see come Saturday. Vulkan is back in the house. I'm gonna take advantage of the lunacy while the lunacy is presented as advantageous. Beef barley for dinner again tonight, and that's not a complaint. And the grass is poking thru. Looks like I can get back to breaking lawnmowers sooner than we thought.

The Negative In Turn Is Negative

Funny how a good day can end so.... uncomfortably. I've never seen someone fly into such a fit of rage over basically nothing. I've never seen anyone act like that outside of a orangutan cage. It's a shame really. Who knows now. We'll find out soon enough.

But to officially end the weekend on an up note... here's Laura, in negative form.

And I'm gonna go downstairs and eat some cookie dough ice cream now. Beat that!

No wait, don't!

Tonight's the kinda night where i could use three fingers of Maker's Mark. Good thing that's what I got.
