Officially The Crazy Old Cat Lady

Happy Birthday Mom

That was your gift. We left it at the tree farm for you. What did you name her?

Kidney Tebow Turd Alert

So what. The week's gone by. Mom went in for surgery. That Tebow guy has infiltrated my neck of the woods. Yuula can say turd alert. The normal run of the mill kind of stuff, really. So here's some fancy photography for you, since I got nothing else to say and it's hot in here. Ick. Hot.

Hope You Knew New Hope

Down to the real highlight of the day, New Hope. A town none of us have been to in quite some time, if at all. Right along the Delaware River on the PA side, which completed our coast to coast requirement. The streets were packed with hippies and yuppies, bikers and hikers, drunkees and monkeys. No really there was a monkey. But the number of fascinating shoppes to explore and good food to be eaten is immeasurable and we had empty hands and stomachs to fill.

All my parents wanted to do was eat on the water, which isn't the easiest request to fulfill on a busy weekend as such, but we managed to sneak in after a short at The Landing and enjoyed quite the delicious late lunch/early dinner. I pounded a few lemongrass and chamomile beers and Laura drank a couple mojitos. Fancy. Also tasty was the chicken milanese and brie & ham sandwiches we split. I think we need to stock up on some more lingonberry sauce.

And what Estler gathering is complete without a little ice cream. The answer is none. And Yuula got to try everyone's ice cream. I smell a sugar rush.

The ice cream parlour had questionable decor.

C360_2012-03-18-17-33-21

Exhausted, we headed back to the cars but not before we let the kids burn off their ice cream. Activities included offroading, double toddler flinging, railroad rock collecting and hug aversion.

Now what do we do for 41?

Surprise! A Crumb Bun

C360_2012-03-18-08-36-24

The surprise went off without a hitch. My mother cried and my father hugged everyone to death. We joked about how we may have ruined my parents favorite breakfast spot because, after surprises times two, they may start expecting us to jump out of the bushes everytime they come out here. They like this place too much. And it's a good thing that sometimes a crumb bun is just a crumb bun.

We sauntered down to the inlet to watch for tuna boats, or today the lack thereof, but nothing could deter us from thoroughly enjoying our sugar sprinkled deliciousness and sweetly glazed heaven. Yuula even skipped (sunk) a few stones into the inlet.

Oh To Be A Ruby

012

My parents have been married 40 years today.

We knew they could do it.

I sense crumb buns and antiquing in store.

It's kind of inspiring actually.

018

I hope they were surprised.

Family Af-Fairly

Sometimes when it's late at night (and we've had a bit to drink) we like to play "This Day (X) Years Ago". It's self-explanatory right? Here's what we found in the 2007 folder.

(011) group shot with autoharp
It's like a poster for a reality TV show

(023) enjoying the new garden
No one is proud of this one

(035) bikers
Goodbye sunglasses

(077) Fran gets a kiss from Ted, high five from Carol
Good ol' Uncle Ted goes in for the kill

(101) Fran goes for drink number 3
Get to know her by face because soon you won't understand what she's ordering

(193) sick
Love was in the air apparently

(227) dancing in the hall

Obco's Open!

P1270210

The seasonal donut sensation and childhood hotspot, Obco's has been a hit or miss (usually miss) when we seldom pass-by on our way to/from the shore. Today, by chance, we spotted the open sign like an oasis in the dessert (purposefully misspelled) and of course had to stop for a pastry or twelve.

P1270211

There wasn't much left from the morning run, so we just bought it all.

She's The Jinx All Along

1297034440404

Good game Sunday. The team we wanted to win did. Figured out the secret weapon. Laura is a jinx. Whatever team she roots for loses. So she was Steelers all the way. Big development of the night is I didn't stuff myself full of nasty food that would make me feel like puking all the way home. I did polish off the chipotle Doritos but, it's the end of the season. I probably won't see another bag of those til baseball opening day. Oh dreaded opening day.

Grandma & Grandpa were in Heaven, wrestling over who would hold who when. They each got their required monthly amount of hold time, but I know we need to make plans for a full day of baby exposure.
