I Don't Deny My Roots

Look what popped up on the good ol' facebooks this morning.

I bit that last note. Oh well, never picked up that horn again.

Oh and while we're at it...

Not my proudest moments, but I didn't know that then. I do still have that camouflage jacket. I wear it as a wrist warmer.

Five Years, Every Day

Hi.

Today marks five years of us taking photos every day. Every single day, no matter how dull or uneventful, we found something to put on record and now we've hit a landmark: five years. Good for us. Is that a record? Probably not. I assume that if it's your job to take photos you may be in the same boat, so, big whoop.

Here is us on January 8th, 2007
(86) a good year so far

And us on January 8th 2012

And most of the in between you've seen. But we celebrated with a sit down taco dinner. Yuula's first taco, and she ate it all on her own with no unraveling.

Family Af-Fairly

Sometimes when it's late at night (and we've had a bit to drink) we like to play "This Day (X) Years Ago". It's self-explanatory right? Here's what we found in the 2007 folder.

Stumbled Upon Some Nuggets

My mom asked me to find a few photos for her in my extensive family archive and I stumbled upon some doozies. More than I'm willing to dish out all at once, but this way I have something to fallback on when there's nothing else going on, like today.

Let's flash back to Easter 1995....

10
Dani and Vic were in the early stages of their now legendary relationship.

05
Easter was the only day that it was normal to catch Grandma wandering the yard looking for eggs.

09
Awwwwww. My mother was a stalker.

18
Always a pickup game of something on Easter, but there was money riding on this year's.

04
I couldn't pass up a photo of Vic carrying a pink basket.

I found lots more so, stay tuned and hope for boring days.

We Were Lookers

I brought home a box of mystery from the house in Jackson last week and finally went thru it today. Oh boy there were surprises. Some old schoolwork of mine from 5th grade that had Laura & I laughing tears and some quality records like Electric Light Orchestra's Out Of The Blue and a 7" of Come On Eileen were higlights. I also stumbled across a few photos that had me wondering that if they had Toddlers & Tiaras back in the 80's whether or not we would have been on it.

The hair says it all.

Unless we were wearing hats. Then the hat says it all.

My short lived baseball career and the card to prove it. I looked it up in Beckett's and apparently I owe them a nickel.

This is an aerial shot, I think of my parents hometown, Boonton. Maybe not. I'm sure they'll tell me.

Plenty more where that came from. In due time.

Close Call If Not For Rainbow Rock

AYE! What a morning already and it's 6:38. Laura got out to leave for work a little before 6, at which point we spent the next half hour trying to shimmy the van out of the driveway from the ice grips that formed in just the 5 hours since we pulled in last night. It's hard to push a vehicle with your feet consistently slipping out from under you. After dumping salt around the tires and heave-hoing it for what seemd 6 hours, we conceded defeat. Laura came back in and was in bed before i could get my boots off, which were now full of snow. I should've put socks on.

I sat down on the computer to get to work, a little ticked and cold, and turned on some background music only to find that the hard drives booted up in the wrong ports and my iTunes was jumbled. Ticked became annoyed. I reached down to take a frustrated sip of my tea and it was ice cold. Annoyed became pissed.

I started to shut down the computer so I could reboot the drives when this photo came up on my background slideshow....

I started laughing so hard I cried. That seems like a lifetime ago. We know her so much better now. She's changed so much but that's still her. Then I cried for real. Morning back on track. Yuula saves the day. It could be so much worse. I could be Christina Aguilera this morning.

Where's All The White Cold?

Not that I'm in a hurry to break out snow shovel just yet, but where is the snow? Where is the cold for that matter? It's gonna be 70° today. I'm running the fireplace out of spite. Laura's nervous it means a bad winter. I think a bad winter will be a good thing. At least for us, now.

The temperature should be dropping soon and then we won't see our grass til spring. That's fine. It's just reminding me of how I should go mow it. I thought the snow would be here by now and I could pretend. Years past is no help.

Chaos Of A Kelpy Sea

This came on my way home last night, random a-list flashback I haven't heard in years. Reminds me of staying up late my junior year of high school watching 120 Minutes. What a great show. Blew my mind. Love those low budget early 90's videos. So literal.

Yup. Still good.

Reunited, Just Understood

Tonight is the Emerald Marquis reunion. This has been in the works for years now. It was supposed to be last Labor Day weekend, then it was canceled and rescheduled for this. We had planned to go, see the old gang, most of whom I haven't seen in a decade, but then plus signs and dirty diapers and the rest is history. Hey, now I can use this to make her feel guilty when she gets older.
