Sit Me Down, Shut Me Up

song of the day

Yuula likes to "rock out" to this tune

All Easter, All Now

It was Easter!

Yuula got dressed up

We watched the claymation story of the Easter Bunny. It is quite suspect.

She needed no instruction this year.

She was cleaning up the place

She quite enjoyed the huny

And of course she got right to wearing her new dress

Laura whipped up some goldenrod

We played with some of Yuula's new toys and the watched her new Cinderella movie, ate popcorn and drank chocolate milk, which was pretty awesome

Then we busted out some chocolate

-worked on out closet for most of the evening, picked for dinner, put Yuula to bed and watched the season finale of Walking Dead, appropriate Easter viewing. Not disappointed, but not blown away either.

I Feel You Easter Bunny

Happy Easter people

I hear Yuula rolling around and talking herself awake already
but Laura is a log

At Least This Time She's So Clever

songs of the day

love the random playlist days, just a few of the tracks the stuck out...

Adding Gold And Eating Dye

After a fairly long day we finally got around to dying eggs around 9pm. Yuula was up for it. And she only broke two eggs.

The she tried to eat one of the Paas pellets. They do look a little like candy.

She took the painting off the eggs quite seriously.

She had some kind of kanji influenced designs going tonight.

Not too many to find, but enough for eggs goldenrod.

Up In The Air Like Mary Lou Retton

The Closest To A Closet We've Been In Some Time

Well, there it is. Hope it works. I see a lot of mistakes. Laura is happy. We had to hold off on filling it up with clothes til after we touched up the paint and stain that I trashed while installing and hammering and general beating my head against the wall. But at least now it looks like a closet. Closest to a closet we've been in some time.

Laura's side still needs the built-ins. Custom of course.

While sanding was easier, it sure was also messier. The corners are still a little mushy and I missed a frigin bracket in the wall last night so I'll be doing more sanding tomorrow. Yippe-kay-yay.

That Is All Of Us

Yuula's taken to drawing figures lately and this is her latest work. We were lucky to snap a shot before she erased it. She's not sentimental about her sketchings.

But she tells us that is us. Mommy at the bottom there, the little one on her head is Yuula, Judee's in the middle and I am looking rough up in the top right-hand corner.

Come on over and she'll do you next.

Do Not Claim Then Anymore

song of the day

ballerinas is the new autotune

Not The Most Interesting Stage Of It

These steps of construction DO NOT make for interesting photo journaling. Tonight was spackling night, just another job that I'm sure was ten times harder than it should have been and came out ten times worse than humanly possible. It puts us at ease knowing that 97% of these walls will be covered in hanging clothes. In other words, who cares.

And It Jumps Too

Meet the Peacock Spider. Native to southeastern Australia and damn attractive to the females on that ‘bird of paradise’ level. This is the most nightmarish thing I can imagine.

Gonna Be A Flower Girl

Yuula's dress showed up today for Kevin and Mariah's wedding. She's gonna be a flower girl.

I can't wait to see how far down the aisle she makes it

I Should Try And Build This

Walks Is Hard

Going for a walk after lunch used to be a relaxing part of the day. Now it's work. Judee's too fast. Yuula's too slow. Judee wants to go left. Yuula wants to go right. Judee's catches a scent. Yuula throws rocks at cars.

So I like to stop and take photos

Yuula really likes rocks that she can see now that the snow has melted

and throwing them

Talking Of TED

ShI've been kind of obsessed with TED talks lately. I like to listen while I work, or while I eat lunch or while I used the toilet. I've had my mind blown at the same time as my bowels.

Here's some of my favorites:

A Day Waiting For Hearing

This picture is from yesterday but I don't care. I like it.

Today we got a new auxiliary jack put in the van. Enough is enough. We got some road trips coming up this summer and we can't this radio nonsense. We had an appointment for 11:30 at the Best Buy. Guy Carlos said it would take an hour. He finished at 3:15. Luckily there were some stores in the strip or the employees would've got real bored with us and the 3-D glasses over in the television section. But idle hands will be, and Old Navy had Laura all worked up over their new toddler spring collection, even tho it was snowing out. We dropped cash. Then to the new Saladworks for lunch (memories) and the pet store for a second round of food and treats now that we know Judee likes wet food and peanut butter. And she needs a bath too.

At this point we had more time to kill so we stodo by the juicers in Bed, Bath & Beyond an uncomfortably long time and then ended up buying a new griddle so we can have pancakes this weekend. Ours got ruined in Assateague last summer.

As we meandered down the street wondering if Carlos has made off with our sweet ride Ferris Bueller style we got the call that the job was done and after uncomfortably pushing a BBB cart thru BB full of dog food, child clothes and leftover potato chips, we got her back. And the stereo was pumping. All the way to Home Depot (approx. 0.8 miles) where we picked up all our closet goods.

Baby steps people.

Couldn't Shake It If I Tried

song of the day

dude's got a lot of hats, why not write a song for it

Snow Really Tho

This is kinda cool. But I thought it was supposed to be spring. I know, I sound like every news network when I say that but we are frigin ready man. We need some grass. I have leaves left from the fall to rake. And there are flowers to plant and a garden to raise. This will be the year of the homegrown.

It's supposed to snow tomorrow. All day.

Walking Is Hard Now

This fool ain't never been on a leash. She has no idea. And neither do we for that matter. Gonna be a learning experience for us all I suppose. But what she lacks in domestication she makes up for in unadulterated sweetness. Quite the nuzzlebug this girl is, so she's gonna fit in round these parts.

But the walks will take time.

Here's the partners in crime cutting loose in the streets doing heaven knows what.

It definitely adds a new element to our day to day, which I I just recently thought I had figured out. Nothing like going back to the drawing board.

We Were Rich Once, Before Your Head Exploded

Out on April 23rd (2 days before me bday) is the reissue of one of the best albums of the 90's, mostly only known for the humming/bass riff intro of it's one commercially successful single. Those who were curious enough to delve deeper found a treasure trove of art grunge wonderment, perplexing instrumentals, fine fine pop mess, and still the slowest song ever to be recorded, and realized that "Cannonball" was probably the lowest common denominator among them.

The vinyl box set includes:
- a 12-inch vinyl pressing of Last Splash
- four 10-inch EPs - Safari, Cannonball, Divine Hammer, and Head to Toe
- a 12-inch vinyl live concert album, Stockholm Syndrome, recorded in Sweden in 1994, during the band's last European tour.  Seven tracks from this recording originally appeared on a fan-club-only CD; nine additional unreleased tracks from the concert are included here.
- a 12-inch vinyl record comprised of a BBC radio session recorded July 24, 1993 and available here for the first time, and the original Last Splash demo recordings, made in November, 1992
- a 24-page booklet featuring previously unpublished photographs taken during the recording of Last Splash, personal photos taken during two years of touring, and reminiscences written by band members and others, including Kim Gordon and J Mascis.

So... yes please.

And you know this was Kim Deal too right?

hope so...

song of the day

Get ready, only a couple weeks away now

The Sweetest Wolf

We got her!

And only 24 hours after we thought she was gone.

What a weird couple of days. She's here. Sleeping in Laura's lap. She ate some food, drank a lot, and had a staring contest with Alps fro about 3 hours. She's incredibly sweet and just wants to sit in our laps. She likes a good brush as well. Seems like a good match so far. Still gotta adjust to walking schedules and such, but maybe it'll get me some extra exercise.

We let Yuula name her. At first it was June. Then it switched to Judy. Now we've decided to honor her original name with the double E's and go with Judee. But it may change tomorrow. She don't care.

In coincidence, today, Saturday March 23rd, is National Puppy Day. The day celebration of puppies but more importantly the unofficial holiday was created to raise awareness about puppy mills and all the shelter dogs around the country that need good homes. So... that;s kinda funny.

I'll Hear Ya

big day for new release news...

First is the new Sigur Rós album Kveikur, which is surprising considering their last album came out last May. They usually take awhile to brew, so who knows what's going on here. Uncontrollable artistry or toss-offs from the last album. This doesn't seem like a toss-off.

First new Travis in a long while. No title or release date yet but they did put out the schmancy VHS video single.

Then The National and Deerhunter almost back to back in May. No videos, just cover art, but sometimes that's just as good.

Is This The Greatest Love Story Ever?

Marina Abramovic and Ulay started an intense love story in the 70s, performing art out of the van they lived in. When they felt the relationship had run its course, they decided to walk the Great Wall of China, each from one end, meeting for one last big hug in the middle and never seeing each other again.

At her 2010 MoMa retrospective Marina performed ‘The Artist Is Present’ as part of the show, where she shared a minute of silence with each stranger who sat in front of her. Ulay arrived without her knowing and this is what happened.

Even Leave The Green Guys

You can have your Giada and Guy Ferrari and Paula Dean. I will take these little videos made by Sigur Rós leader Jonsi and his boyfriend Alex.

Check out that blender!

Check out their website where you can see them make more food, like Nammi Nammi, and download their charming little recipe book.

This is gonna be a good summer.
