October Outtakes, Part 3
proud of her pigtails
this is a learning moment
this is also a learning moment
she said she was full and handed me the box
this is on one of our better jobs
Laura stepped on this
We drank these
Is that enough purple for ya?
Like I said, he's happiest when his Mommy is holding him
That's Not A Rock Collection
(from October 27th)
We've done a handful of jobs and been into a handful of private residences now. You never know what you're going to see. Honestly, it's an unnecessary view into another person s world, and it usually ain't pretty. Here's one job we did...
A chicken thru a tree. Not so bad, if this is as weird as it gets.
Our mobile office has never been more colorful.
What's this you ask? Why that's a dresser covered in produce stickers and chewed gum. Works in any room of the house.
We did melt their candles tho. Whoops.

Not A Single Parent
My wife left me alone with these kids, for two whole days. The days are what they've been, but it's the nights that I'm not accustomed to. The first night, Aesop did not sleep at all. The second night I prepared with a nice big vat of coffee at 9 at night, only for both kids to pass right out and sleep thru the whole night, while I sat up in bed and caught up with awful all-nite television. I'm tired.
Good thing I had a little bit of help.

No Sheets, Because He Puked
Well, that's two days down, just me and the demon spawn. That would be plural, two demon spawn. We knew it would be an adjustment, emotional for Laura, habitual for me. And momma didn't do me any favors by holding this boy 24/7 since the day he was born. Now if doesn't have flesh touching his flesh he summons all sorts of hells. He's cuddle or nothing.
I must say, day two was vastly superior to day one. He napped like a pro and only threw one tantrum while I was cooking dinner. Maybe he was just pissed that he wasn't going to get any of my perogies.
Tomorrow I get a break....

Mommy Gotta Go
Laura had to go back to work today. Drama, yes. But she snuck out in the early early morn and left me standing in the bedroom not sure what was going to happen today.
Her cute curl made the whole return to the grind tolerable. It's the little things.
She was missed greatly and came home to some demented form of a toddler pedicure. Yuula used so much lotion that I (and the blankets) got the spill over. I guess it wasn't so bad.

Lost In The Gloss
Laura's got about a month left of freedom. She's taking the winter cold head on and not letting the double down on kids hold her back. She was out for all hours, I don't even know where, roller skating, grocery storing, who knows. But I know that this little mother/daughter ready-session is becoming a thing...
I barely know what day it is. I just sit in my corner and tip-tap-typ. Got a whole new open access market thing working tho, talking with people in China and Mexico and Ypsilanti... I smell a road trip. Hear they got some cool tourist attractions in Ypsilanti.
Aesop is getting fat...

Go To Your Rooms, If You Can Find Them
Believe it or not this is still a better start than we had for 2013...
This here is a miserable women in her final months, weeks, days of housing another living person inside her until he is cooked and ready to grace us with his presence and enter into this world, and I think if he throws much more at her he's gonna look at entering this world into some vengeful arms looking for payback, and yes she is capable of punishing a newborn. Laura's got the flu. And the bedroom has transformed into an infirmary of sorts. But that's okay because the living room still doubles as Yuula's toy storage, the dining room is a mudroom, and the kitchen closely resembles a landfill. The whole house has identity issues.
The bathroom is still the bathroom tho.
But it was a good excuse to convince Yuula to sleep in her own bed tonight. Even tho she has no concept of the spreading of germs, or that I lied and Mommy doesn't really have the plague, she agreed, but not without voicing her deep disappointment in my decision to *gasp* make the child sleep in her own room. She let me know that there will be a discussion in the morning and I am in for it.
So that has been our day. The most exciting thing to happen to me is that I had a conference call discussing regional and industrial complexities behind marketing a wide distribution of cutting edge engineering machinery. Woo! Yuula's highlight came when I allowed her to eat a lemon candy after dinner. I think Laura's just came as she stopped coughing long enough to fall asleep. I better stop typing.....

Joyful Bedriddance
So, I am fully aware that more than a fair share of photos taken in this 2014 are of the girls in the bed, but this is not fiction, and I'm merely depicting what goes on around here. It's not my fault I got one feeling under the weather and another bulging from the guts, two conditions that apparently keep you bedridden. But joyfully bedridden. They don't seem to be down in the dumps. Just down.
These two photos were taken hours apart.
The day went on as planned tho. Laura went to work for the last time (for some time), and I diddled around the house while catching some playoff games in the background. Both my teams lost. And Yuula, she slept. For a good eight hours. And when she woke, her fever had broken, and it seemed like there was a great alignment of the stars, as would be well and a great celebration would be had once the mother returned home, shedding her retail skins and ready to embrace the family and the home and the remainder of her gestational epoch, and that all sorts of grandiosity was in our wake.
Instead...
...she came home, got in bed and Yuula stuck her foot in her face.
Bring on the madness.

Free Movie Day Or Arab Prison?
Strange day.
I was all set to clock out for a long weekend. Put in my due diligence, getting the Halloween playlist ready. Thinking about what movies I was going to watch on Friday, that had been burning up my DVR for weeks, nay, months, for my big day off of nothing. I was stoked, to say the least.
Then, disaster, from afar. Nothing of my doing, but my problem to fix (apparently). I'll be lucky if I'm not sitting here all thru the weekend now. And to top it all off, I was threatened with some foreign imprisonment. Just your ordinary run-o'-the-mill nonsense.
Up early and at it so I can enjoy some of the holiday we planned.

Places To Go / Time To Get To Them
Been shooting black/white for a couple days now. Sometimes you just get in the mood. Memorial Day happened. We worked in the yard and had dinner with the Trunks. Details to follow. I've had this set of assembly instructions hanging over me for what seems like forever. I swear I'm almost done tho. One more day. Maybe. Our trip is coming up and it's heads down til then. It's fairly legit vacation, and a new destination is being added every day. We better leave before the places to go outnumber the time we have to go to them.
Laura's at the gym. Better than at a bomb scare I suppose. Oh we didn't tell you about that one. Next time we see you. Laura's still diffusing. Pun intended.

Was Damn Lovely
I sat at my desk all say. Since about 5am. I hate days like that. But it was supposed to rain so I didn't feel so bad. Until it didn't rain and was damn lovely. But I did get ALOT of work done. And Laura even made me quesadillas for dinner. Yuula had a busy day on the potty, and in the bathtub, for numerous hose-downs. Right now I'm just hoping that if I go downstairs and watch horrible TV with the wife that I'll get a neckrub so I can do it all again tomorrow. Of monotony!

Shaking The Sleepies
The days following a holiday/anniversary break can be overwhelming. The need to do zero work during this past three day weekend was imperative, but we knew we'd pay for it. With a half completed closet and clothes turning the scale model of the Grand Canyon, that is only making things more exciting. And I've kicked over Yuulas Easter basket about four times a day, so I'm ready to smash me some plastic eggs.
Other than that, nothing new. April is a good month, excited for spring, but I think it's 26 degrees right now, so nevermind. Maybe it'll give us another week to shake the sleepies.
