Everybody Cozy On In

This is the room Yuula tried to sleep in. It's been this messy for, let's say, weeks. She sleeps in our room because she can't find the bed. She seems to like it this way and when we attempt to clean, it immediately returns to this state of, what can we call this, present-day Chernobyl, maybe. There may be radioactive wolves in there. There may be.

The boy also sleeps in our room, which is slowly becoming NOT our room. He's slightly less destructive, but he did pee everywhere today.

Excited For Chicagoans

DANI & VIC ARE COMING!
DANI & VIC ARE COMING!!!

Dani & Vic are here!

nothing

When they finally woke, Vic and Aesop hit it off right away. They bonded over hairstyle.

Yuula loves her Aunt Dani and did not hesitate to hit her up on a nice tight braid, a la Elsa.

We went for a nice walk, or run, taking the long way around, catching some wildlife sightings and admiring the early spring weather.

Asleep Safe In His Own Zone

Set up Aesop's bedside crib/Laura's Christmas present yesterday and I hear it allowed her to get some better sleep. Now she just slides him out and slides him back into his safety zone and we all sleep soundly. Now let's see how fast he grows out of it.

At His First Week Of Living

Aesop's first week of life was turning into rehearsals for us getting out of the house in any timely manner, now the parents of two children. The first try was a dreadful failure. It's been getting better, mostly thanks to another jaundice baby and his poor little punctured feet. All is well tho. Yellow no more. But we're still waiting for the day we get to sleep in.

Yuula likes the doctor much more when she's the patient

Sleeping like a pro

fuzzy face

milk mouth

sibling snuggles

working the side sleep

sleeping thru snow storms

making some eye contact with papa

sounds like...

Dog Loves Lady, Girl Loves Elephant, I Love Drink

That dog just sits there until Laura gets home. Girls.

Now Yuula is the one with the hacking cough. Could be from her mother or from all the disgusting fast food jungle gyms she played in this weekend. There aren't many winter time choices for us mountain folk come snowy days. But her mother bought her a humidifier after her midwives appointment today. Hopefully the last of many.

She named her humidifier Ellie Van. I didn't know appliances had names. We better get on that before she names my lawnmower Sally Cakes or something. It'll stick. But she was so excited about this damn elephant squirting smoke in her face that she asked to go to bed, skipped the bedtime story and barely said goodnight.

Guess we know where we stand nowadays. That's fine. We got another one coming that will need the shit out of us. You can have your plastic pachyderm steamer.

Just as well. I got eggnog to finish again and it does not taste as good in January as it does in December for some reason. Every year with this stuff!

Coercive Persuasion Is Affected By Lidocaine

I'm like Tom Hanks in Splash. Exactly.

Dentist for me today. Midwife for Laura. Getting those appointments aligned are trivial yet extremely satisfying highlights of our quaint little day-to-day existence. I went in for the first four fillings of an extensive list of work needs to be done over the course of how-ever-much-our-insurance-will-cover. After an apparent rave success on the top right the dentist asked if I wanted to keep going. I had nothing going on so I said go for it. They did nine fillings in my face. It was pretty fun actually. I got all numbed up and drooled all over the pretty lady. We laughed. It was all a good time in my mouth.

After that I had to smell Laura and Yuula eating dinner from Sonic while all I could do was struggle to sip root beer from a straw and dream of tater tots. Later on that night I killed a bowl of peppermint ice cream and leftover microwaved pasta, in that order, so I guess it worked out alright.

We cozied up for a little BCS title game, knowing that we had distant (as in distance) relatives who had skin in the game an knowing it would be good conversation pieces next time we see them, whenever that may be. Yuula watched, begrudgingly, but on her own chose the "red" team, which was good for family moral. Laura has a theory that whatever team I root for loses, which is usually correct, but she believes that somehow it is because of me rooting for that team that they find themselves on the wrong end of the victory parade, like I'm a curse or some sort of cosmic karmic nonsense that is forever orbiting her peabrain while such sporting events are broadcast into our living room. I guess when a basic understanding of the sport is lacking you start to make up your own epic narratives which for her includes her being married to a man who has mind control over the nations athletes and possibly a high-level conspiracy within the higher rankings of the NASO. Either way, we should just start putting money down on these things. But also, FSU won, so, theory disproved. Good game.

And it looks like Yuula is sleeping with us again tonight. I think it's to the point where she doesn't remember that she has her own room. Maybe she doesn't need it. Hmmm.

Joyful Bedriddance

So, I am fully aware that more than a fair share of photos taken in this 2014 are of the girls in the bed, but this is not fiction, and I'm merely depicting what goes on around here. It's not my fault I got one feeling under the weather and another bulging from the guts, two conditions that apparently keep you bedridden. But joyfully bedridden. They don't seem to be down in the dumps. Just down.

These two photos were taken hours apart.

The day went on as planned tho. Laura went to work for the last time (for some time), and I diddled around the house while catching some playoff games in the background. Both my teams lost. And Yuula, she slept. For a good eight hours. And when she woke, her fever had broken, and it seemed like there was a great alignment of the stars, as would be well and a great celebration would be had once the mother returned home, shedding her retail skins and ready to embrace the family and the home and the remainder of her gestational epoch, and that all sorts of grandiosity was in our wake.

Instead...

...she came home, got in bed and Yuula stuck her foot in her face.

Bring on the madness.

Blue Monday Blues

She wanted to go to bed at 3 o'clock today

I seriously thought about it

But I knew that'd mean a middle of the night visitor for me

Which kind of happens lately anyhow

and we don't mind
