It has been forever since we've seen a show, so when we saw that TMSR would be trompsing thru our neighborhood we couldn't resist. We even convinced Eric Brust to come down for the night, despite the fact that they'll be in Cambridge this weekend. He's crazy.
We wandered the streets, semi-lost, more unfamiliar, but stumbled upon a quaint little local pub, the Bishop's Collar, where we drank holiday beer. I had an amazing chicken burrito, Eric had a spicy meatloaf sandwich, and Fran ate hot wings disguised as mild wings.
Out of our comfort zone of venues in Atlanta, we didn't know what to expect, but the Northstar Bar was quite a cozy little joint. Decent array of beer on tap and delicious cheesy fries. The two opening acts were local, enough said, but we were so stoked for the Most Serenes that nothing could ruin this night.
They promptly took the stage and played all the 'hits' off their new spectacular album, including personal favorites Compliance, Humble Peasants, the exquisite Sherry & Her Butterfly Net, and closing appropriately with the anthemic Present of Future End.
Warning: I like to take the blurry concert photo. It's more representative of how I remember the show.
Sidenote: Apparently the Northstar Bar only has red lighting.
Enjoy:
They were many; they were benevolent; they were jovial; they were boisterous; they were very, very good. Fran wants to go see them again at the Mercury Lounge tomorrow night. She thinks they might play Proposition 61. We'll see what happens.
Got lost a little [again] trying to get back to the Ben Franklin Bridge, but it allowed us to see some of Philly including that giant closepin from that Eddie Murphy movie. Some beautiful buildings to see but we was tired, so we found the bridge, and crossed it.

Today is gross. Wet and cold. I was hoping for snow. They're getting snow 30 minutes north. Cruel. Let's see what the weekend brings. I'm hoping for at least a grey Christmas. More updates to come today, Christmas themed. Oooooh
