I Lit It Up

Laura mentioned to me that she wasn't feeling 100% into the holiday spirit despite my constant Christmas playlists and the decorations enveloping the house and the tree shaped cookies sprinkled in red & green on the counter and the actual Christmas tree glowing in the corner of the living room and the Santa hat I've been wearing since Sunday and mistletoe candle burning and stockings I hung by the fire with care and the wrapping of the gifts in paper covered in phrases and imagery all to instill the feeling of unrelenting Christmas wonder! So, being a good husband I pulled out all the stops and being a proper boyscout I was prepared. Lucky for Laura she married a man who has been toting around an emergency backup Christmas light collection for about 8 years. And it was time.

I know, it's not very well done, but I had a plan to reach that peak of the A-frame, but it fell thru. So this is what you get.

I did get the horse cart tho.

The only way I could get it all was to turn the camera. Not too bad for a first time decorating a house in lights.

I ran out of lights at the bushes. Gonna have to wait til next year.

But Laura was surprised when she came home to the pitch black house and when she started coming up the walk I hit play on Bing Crosby's You're All I Want For Christmas and plugged in the lights. BAM! She had no idea. I think it's safe to say that the Christmas spirit is now safely implanted somewhere between her heart and her gullet, where everyone keeps their holiday cheer. Right in there.
