Winter Begets Slovenliness

Probably has a lot to do with the frigid weather, and all we wanna do is bundle up on the couch and watch TV and sip something warm, but we have a tendency to explode all over ourselves lately. Unintentional of course, but we've kinda always been this way. And then we'll have days like yesterday where all we wanna do is clean. We got about halfway there...

We started with taking down the Christmas decorations. I think we may hold the record for leaving our tree up into the spring. One year we didn't take it down til well into April. But we took the tree down, boxed up all the ornaments & Santa hats & lights & candles & the nativity & the bows.... you get the idea.

Training the kittens to wear bows is not easy

The number of Christmas totes we use each season grows exponentially

The final resting place for the 2008 tree, it was a good tree

We moved onto the living room where the cats had started hoarding all sorts of knick knacks from walnuts to tea lights to tiny toy guitars won from cereal boxes that I like to whip out on occasion under the coffee table. So we confiscated all that and in the process broke the vacuum. We didn't try and vacuum a walnut or anything, just accidentally sucked in a kitty string toy that lay camouflaged on the rug. So guess we're buying a new one of those.

Dents doesn't like the sound of a vacuum. This is her attempt at hiding.

And then, with full intention of clearing the downstairs bedroom to prep it for a major reworking this spring, we moved a giant table into the spare bedroom upstairs, which we now call Scrapbook-ville/ton/land/burg. I like -burg. I bought a buncha scrapbooks and a new photo printer and everything for Christmas so we figured we might as well make a room for it. But it's not really set up yet so, no photo. Instead here's me cooking my special rice recipe (I called it a ricipe) and sipping on some eggnog.

We didn't get on to the bedroom, also known as Clothes Mountain, but hopefully this morning, but probably not.
