The Hunt Resumes In 2008

Ok, so I know you're just dying to know how the house hunt went today. Well honestly, I'd like to know how it went myself. It was a bit of a blur. I can tell you the highlight of the day was driving home and trying to sing My Morning Jacket's Wordless Chorus with the hiccups & laughing about how "Asian Monster" gave me a malt when I specifically asked for a bowl at Carvel. I mean who orders a malt anyway? Who am I George McFly? "Chunky Girl" would have gotten the order right, altho shorted me on the rainbow jimmies.

Back on point- We went house hunting again. Only three houses this time, focus on lofts. We really want a loft now. And a fireplace is high on the list. Takes the cozy factor to a whole 'nother level. Our first stop was on Otter Lane in Tamiment PA, Pike County.

As much as we liked this house, we just couldn't see ourselves living there. We loved the neighborhood and the off-the-beaten-path-i-ness of it all, but something just wasn't right. It seemed so new and sparkly. We're being picky I know, but it is a house, not a turkey sub. Our minds may change. Stay tuned.

The second house was in Tobyhanna which we found less than stellar. The neighborhood was kind of trashed, mainly because it's a lot of people who work and commute to the city therefore curb appeal falls pretty low on their to-do list. The woman selling it was quite nice, but since it was "for sale by owner" she talked more about her upcoming trip to Florida than actually trying to sell us the house. She was sweet but we will have to pass.

The third house was in a little neighborhood called Pocono County Place, lovingly referred to by the locals as PCP, and just like everyone's favorite drug angel dust, this place induced bizarre and volatile behavior on it's inhabitants. We had been warned. We didn't even bother.

Our spirits were lifted on a chance drive thru downtwon Stroudsburg which was extremely charming to say the least. It completely reinvigorated our desire to become residents of the area, but alas, it was getting late and we were spent. So home we went.

Side note that I think you'll all be interested to learn. Fran created a word today: Seditary. We're still not exactly sure what it means. Apparently it means whatever she needs it to mean at any particular moment. What a versatile word. Good for you hun.
