I remember being 15 the first time I heard a Sonic Youth song. It ripped my mind into pieces and happy to do so. For 30 years they've been paving the way for pretty much 90% of the music on any iPod I'd give the time of day led by the fearless stalwarts and happily married couple of Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon.
Well, now, after 27 years of marriage they've decided to divorce. And while the end of their bonds of matrimony don't really upset me I can't help but be worried about their ability to record music together any longer. This is not a band that can lose a member and remain the same. 26 albums is not enough.
