Recovering from a arduous past 24 hours, being chased from our home by fear of hypothermia, reconciling with an over-adrenalinized toddler who refuses to sleep in an unfamiliar surroundings and facing the probability of losing a couple hundred dollars worth of refrigerated goods, again, for the 2nd time in as many months, we've been slightly stressed, for a family that doesn't stress often.
BRAINS!!
We had a fine time at Chateau Trunk last evening and the girls had a blast. Yuula kept Isabella up well past her bedtime, and then kept the rest of the house up past theirs.
Like spooks, Laura and I fled in the night and reconnoitered on the road in separate vehicles. Laura had to work early for the big boss was paying a holiday visit. Scary! And I scoured the countryside for the most financially responsible solution to our power deprivation. Generator Vs. Propane Heater. I decided to head home and see what damage our fireplace could bring to the table. Yuula was beyon exhausted so I laid with her on the couch under 8 blankets to lull her to sleep. It worked well. And then the power came on.
Relief beyond relief.
Tonight we will try and salvage Halloween by finally carving a pumpkin, watching the Peanuts Great Pumpkin special and dressing up the girl and throwing gummi bears at her in the living room. New tradition. We may be too exhausted to do anything else.
PS. Where did October go?
