Water Where Water Don't Belong

Just two days into the new roof, and we get tested. And we failed. Pretty good leak, that seemed to get less as the day(s) went on, but a leak is a leak all the same.

It was a pretty bad storm. Hail and thunder sent the girl into our room for bed, but no matter because we lost all power a few minutes later.

I went out to survey the damage but did not expect this...

Tree right thru the back window

Luckily the trees fell right in between the wood shed, tool shed and Mambo's hutch to hit the only thing we have insured, so.... silver linings.

With water in the hose and water in the car, we should just move out onto the lawn.

No More Ducking To The Toilet

The day had come, about a year in the making, of the first real construction on the upstairs bathroom, which is going to be great when it's all said and done, but we're just getting started so, give us some time....

What's this? It's our new bathing quarters. It's what we'll use to reshape our bathroom and create a whole new way of life, no doubt. Let's hope it survives the coming flood.

All Emergent

The day started off fairly intense, with a little 911 action on my behalf for the little lady in our life. Long story short, she's fine, 100%, but has some serious work to do to get rid of some thick flem that had her all choked up right out of bed this morning. A Cold. The End.

But then we got this little project moving. I think it may actually happen this time.

Aesop is not as convinced

Then I ended the day dropping my delicious dinner. I did not call 911.

The Mysterious Slow Drip

Bathroom demolition has begun, a little ahead of schedule...

Can you see that little squirter? Yeah neither could we, frigin indoor plumbing. I'd be fine returning to outhouses at this point.

Stepping Out Into Outside

oooh.

This may be something to put down on the list of new additions to our future bathroom. The bathroom of which no one knows how far in the future it will exist. Right now, with the weather changing, it may be restricted to only rainy days, which does not bode well for the amount of work that needs to be done.

For now, the new closet is still keeping us busy, and there's a hallway to deal with to boot. We'll see how this goes.

How Long You Been Up There?

Bathroom Design Is Redrum

Doing a little late night bathroom planning from bed tonight. I think we got ideas for tile and flooring and placement of toilets and so on. We were encouraged. Then we watched a video on how to tile a shower. Then we were discouraged. It's gonna be a doozy, that's all I know for sure. In a day that featured the discovery of unfortunately placed beams and fortunately dead mice, this is ending on an up.

Plus we're watching The Shining while we gather ideas, which is ironic, because I can't think of another movie that  more accurately displays the utter disrespect for the sanctity of the bathroom as when Jack takes an axe to that lovely wood door. Those doors cost money, and I could've used that one.

Advancement In The Bathroom

I know I've posted about toilets before but being a person that lives in a house that poses certain space-issues I consider this is pretty cool invention.


The Design Odyssey Vertebrae is an all-in-one fixture with water flowing into it from the top, giving you two showers, a cistern for storing water, a couple of storage areas, a sink and a toilet, all in one stack.

Genius.

Now where did I leave that extra $11,025?
