Monumental On Mother's Day

It's become a sort of tradition (for a whole year now) that we plant flowers on Mother's Day, alongside most of the nation I'm sure. My parents came up to spoil the child and to mooch free liquor. But they also helped out around the yard in what has proven to be a set of enormous tasks we set forth for this summer, once again.

Grindhouse Love

I found a new favorite genre. These grindhouse films are awesome. We're watching Planet Terror. It's a horrible exploitation B-movie with God awful dialogue, scratchy 8mm reels and a complete absence of coherent storyline, which makes for the most enjoyable movie I've seen in a long while. Let's see so far we got green mystery fog, limb amputations, doctors killing their wives, swelling puss boils, jean shorts, peg-legged sex scenes, zombies that explode on impact, a bag of balls, enough blood and guts to fill the Caspian Sea and Bruce Willis! Up next is Death Proof. Sounds really good. I'm gonna eat your brains and gain your knowledge.

Over Before It Starts

We were excited to watch preseason football Monday night. For a little while anyhow...

Eli_crop_340x234

Yeah. Gotta say, this and the fact that the Giants have 13 other starters injured before the season even starts... not a good sign. Guess it's back to the Mets of Misery for now. I may have to rethink my teams.

Blood, Sweat & Sweat

P1200435

Blood because I chopped at my ring toe (no I do not wear a ring on my toe, but how do you specify the toe next to the pinky?) with the trundle frame and sweat because there is probably pints of my actual sweat mixed into the paint I just applied to the baby's room. It went well. My dad cut wainscoating all day (crazy a-frame walls) and I painted myself into a blur. That wainscoating is tough. Laura's on her way home now to see it for the first time. Tomorrow I am sleeping in! and then building baby furniture. Good day but I am really frigin tired. And sore. And tired. And I just cooked my parents a DiGiorno without taking the cardboard off. Again. And tired.

Clean Cracks And Crash Cones

I've been framed!

P1180408

I think someone broke into our house, grabbed some of Laura's favorite cereal and had themselves a breakfast in bed. That's the only explanation!!

IMAG0276

I was driving in today on 33. All of the sudden the road was split by cones. Cones right down the middle of the two lanes. No warning and definitely no indication as to which side of the cones I should be on as to best avoid whatever was taking place on one side or the other. Then I began seeing smashed plastic from previously mentioned cones, a sure sign of travelers before me trying to decide which side of the cones they should venture on. I stayed true to my right lane and since it was 4:30 am stayed at an easy pace. I eventually spotted signs of construction ahead and tho not a single human was around, the sun lamps notified me as to where it was safe to pass. Adventure!!

I came home today and finally cleaned the baby's room. We had scheduled it for this past Sunday, but a Law & Order marathon had other plans. Laura seemed bummed about it so I took the reigns and the vacuum to its limit and sucked every crack between those wood slats clean as a whistle. The office is packed with all the furniture that was in there so I guess the office has now become a very large storage closet. New closet!!

I cut my elbow on the wall.

Bang Instead Of A Blip

The past few days have been a blur.

IMG_0995

Not a blur... maybe even a eclipse. Just strange stuff. We were invaded by Canadians, were woken by severe explosions in the sky, got dutch ovened by a kitten, found ourselves more than just a little inebriated at 6 in the evening, had a joint/reverse déjà vu, and one night even broke out into an impromptu dance party of sorts. Not good.

But now... now is the eve of a new year. So let me put out a few photos from the past days and move on... Resolutely!

Not The Wagonwheels!

These frigins cats.

I was in such a good mood last night. Fran on her way home, gonna make some pizza and cuddle up on the couch, watch some TV. I was wrapping things up in the office when heard a 'slip' 'CRASH!' 'sprinkle' from downstairs. I hurried downstairs to see what was the matter and those turds had climbed atop the pantry and, probably in a fit of rage, hurled the giant container holding all our beloved wagonwheel pasta to the floor, scattering glass and pasta in every direction, and was proud enough to be standing there amongst the wreckage almost as if to say, "Oh, did you want these?". I mean there were enough broken wagon wheels to put you off the Oregon Trail for days.

And there was blood.

The culprit.

Some other things the cats have broken lately.

They seem to hate animals.

I think we got a Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer. And there's nothing at all to be done about that!
