Weird With A Beard

C360_2012-03-24-13-09-32

This is what I saw all day today. Just weirdness. And no nap. That may be a first, but it's getting to the point where I don't really know. And no lunch. I forgot. She usually reminds me but we did kind of have a late breakfast and then a nice big fruit smoothie so maybe she was full. I don't know it's been a weird day. And my beard's been real itchy even tho I just took a shower. May be time to trim. {ugh}

But I did find out that my good ol' friends Mike & Andrea are expecting, in September. That's gonna light a fire under my wife, or add to the fire that's probably already there. I hope we can make it up to Canada to see her big belly or how about after he/she is born and Yuula can get some baby action. Could be cute. Will be.

I still like these grid photo. I did some more today.

At Bangkok Thru Canadian Eyes

DSC_0054

This morning I got the rare opportunity to see Bangkok. My friends Mike & Andrea (you remember them) are honeymooning there, actually Thailand, but Bangkok is a stepping stone, and they were able to skype with me while they settle in and wait for their flight home. They regaled me with stories of elephant beatings, foot chewing fish and public meltdowns by inebriated locals. Awww wish I could have been there. No really, I wish I could've been there. But I'm sure my expectations of hat-wearing monkeys everywhere stealing your hamburger and small children running wildly about with rikshaws is slightly skewed from the reality.

Or maybe not...

The Professionals From Canada

Mike and Andrea posted the professional photos from their wedding back in September. Brought back some good times with good friends.

Toronto Preserves Victorian Industrialism

The morning after the wedding was a typical one for us. Yuula woke up at 6am and didn't care how hungover her parents were. We got up and headed upstairs for some quiet family breakfast on the back deck while the rest of the house stayed in bed and sun came up.

Then we woke up Mark Maguire and decided to watch some Sunday morning television. After flipping quite literally thru thousands of possibilities we settled in on American Psycho.

Mike and Andrea returned from their love suite at the Old Mill about 30 minutes before the ending but they got to see the classic naked-down-the-hall-with-a-chainsaw scene so all was good.

Today was meant to be the tourist-y day, but since it was already almost 1pm when we left the house our plans had to be short and to the point. It was also Saturday so many things would start to shut down around 5. Times was a-wastin'.

The first place we went was the St. Lawrence Market. A glorious, tightly packed market full everythings and anythings. Reminds me greatly of Faneuil Hall in Boston, a place I frequented quite often, just on a much grander scale.

All that food left us hungering to fill our belly holes so Mandrea escorted us further uptown into the financial district for lunch at an old court house turned fancy pizza joint called Terroni. We got four pies with scattered combinations of cheese, sauce, spicy sausage, arugola, pear and other slightly pizza related items. Delicious.

From there we headed over to the Distillery District, a wonderfully restored neighborhood of Victorian industrial buildings with no cars allowed and surprises behind each shop entrance. Wish we had more time to explore. More time and less rain.

By this point we were all fully exhausted from wedding events and running from the weather. We headed back to the love shack for some floor naps and cornholing.

Reception Highs And Tireds

DSC_0138

Then there was the reception, of which neither of us remember much due to a doubled cocktail hour where the alcohol flowed heavy and Laura discovered ginger & rye. Oh boy. We ate delicious foods and danced to delicious tunes (Mike has flawless taste in tunes) and overall had a blast.

Most of our entertainment was watching Yuula take over the dance floor. She wasn't out there for long when she found a little "dance" partner.

The evening spilled out onto the patio where we caught up with old friends and met some new ones.

The dance floor started to fill up again when the live band started to play and Mike's father joined in on some Van Morrison jams.

Yuula had long been past her witching hour and Laura and I were approaching ours. To end the night we took turns holding the little sleeper in the hall while the other got in a little more party.

Great parties go too fast. I barely remember this one. Good thing we took at least a few photos.
