Early Bird Gets The Wood
I was outside at 5:30 this morning tearing apart that damn tool shed. I'd had enough. And now it is beautiful. Does it seem like I have to do this every year? Winter is unkind to our overstock.
But i went all out this time, even sorting out the boxes of random nails/screws I've accumulated for 5 years. Yuula helped. Kinda.
In the middle of the day Nohito insisted on showing me where she was hiding her kittens. Three. Identical. Cute of course. Let the bidding begin.
Then as rain came out of nowhere as I was trying to work on the new grape arbor, we decided to unload stuff at the storage unit and on the way back we found 2 twelve foot 6x6 beams ditched in a heap. So what if we couldn't close the back hatch all the way home. That's almost $100 worth of wood.

Stacked And Wrapped
What's this? It's our new bathing quarters. It's what we'll use to reshape our bathroom and create a whole new way of life, no doubt. Let's hope it survives the coming flood.

Spice On, Storm On, Spice Off
We're on high alert over here. Laura is 5cm dilated and I think, for most women, that means you are in the middle of giving birth. Of course, this does not apply to my amber-headed beauty, and she ain't had a single, what one would call, contraction, and for the record, it's starting to piss me off.
We tried the spicy food thing, and during the meal realized that the incoming storm would cause a slight travel complications and immediately ceased the spice inhalation, and by immediately I mean after three more trips up for tikka masala and almost accosting the waiter when they said they were out of rice pudding. AFTER that we did things opposite of what one would if they wanted to expedite the birthing process.
Like wander around an antiques warehouse.
Yeah. It didn't go as planned. What has? WWe moved Yuula doctors appointment to today as well, since the storm was going to interfere with that as well. She was a champ.
See.
(I don't know what the makeup is all about)

My Guts Go Nuts On Cronuts
A few weeks ago we won the lottery. That is to say that after three weeks of trying we finally got thru to the Dominique Ansel bakery and got us some cronuts. I've never had to schedule a baked good before, nonetheless drive two hours to actually get it.
It was totally worth it
This is the line I didn't have to wait in
There they, are in all their coconut-y glory
I had to stop Laura from licking the box
I ate two right off
I led a little treasure hunt thru the city, of which the reward was the prize, but when I ran into Greg I just gave it to him
After a little thunderstorm came out of nowhere, basically cancelling our day in the city, we headed over to IKEA and got some ideas for all this home remodeling. Yuula ride me the whole time so, that was fun.
I have just the place for this
On the ride home I ate the final cronut, since they only have an 8 hour shelflife, and shed a single tear as the final flaky morsel dissolved in my mouth, knowing full well I will probably ne'ev gain dine on such a delectable confection. That is until I start making calls this Monday. September's flavor is figgy marscapone!

Zombie-Prepped Vows
Wedding Eve.
Rehearsals abound.
As did the rain.
A decision was made and indoors we went.
The soon-to-be-betrothed didn't seem to mind.
Flower girls prep
After a delicious meal at Chicken and The Egg, Laura realized her sudden need for accessories. We hit some mega-girl shop and they went to town. Yuula tried on every pair of sunglasses and 2/3 of the necklaces.
Girls and their pearls
At some point of the day Laura and Yuula went with the girls for mani/pedis. My two years old's life experience has already surpassed my own.
That night we made a last second decision to go see the late showing of World War Z. Laura was brave. So proud. Brad and Kevin joined us. The film ended around 1am, and as we left the theater I shouted "Hey Kevin! You get married today."

Living Historically And Just A Little Bit Damp
The rain didn't want us to work in the yard again today. It's already begun to be a bit of a worry, but hey, who doesn't want a lazy day here and again. So we thought we'd do some flower hunting and see if we could show Yuula some horses, her new infatuation.
Ross and Ross first, under a little drizzle, but Laura had a big pot to fill and they were having a an open house with free cookies, so a little something for everyone.
Then we thought we'd see what this Quiet Valley Historical Living Farm was all about. Long story short, we became members and plan to be back as often as possible, hopefully once a month or so.
We brought Yuula to the schoolhouse for some drawing, sing-a-longs, BINGO, and a little play about a lamb murdering a wolf in the river.
Yuula caught fish and pet the largest bunny I've ever seen.
She couldn't ride a horse but being pulled by clydesdales seemed just as effective. She loved it.
Then the highlight was the hay jump, which is exactly what it sounds like. Children jumping off an 8 foot platform into bales of hay, in a dark barn.
Weird but she had such a blast that after an hour of hay jumping she still cried when they place closed down.
Then we ended the day the only way we know how.

Ice Cream Creeping
Drizzling rain and thunder. No television, no phone. No internet. Power on and off sporadically. What to do after nice chicken dinner?
That is our spooky little ice cream shop. Quite high quality soft serve and sprinkle of course.
Yuula wasted no time destroying herself
Smashed sprinkle legs
She had to be quarantined

Horns In Storms
Such is life. Last year we didn't even make it to a field when the rain spoiled the party. This year we had a sunny shine day only to be followed by torrential bouts of pummeling rain. At least we stayed undercover save only a slightly manic dash from our princess parking to the secret gate, but the heavy rains and us carrying a toddler probably aided in the security not noticing that we were flashing faux credentials that pretty much got us anywhere we wanted in the building. Good thing these guys aren't head of security for something that really matters.
Anyhow, onto our (now) annual drum and bugle outing...
We showed up with perfect timing (lunchtime) so we could immediately begin greeting all the old acquaintances with no awkward waving from afar. Unfortunately, as is always the case, rehearsal started up again very quickly and Yuula had her first taste of up close and personal professional flagging.
I think she liked it.
We took to the field shortly after a brief stint in the field level Toyota suites for some catching up with the Pittman's. Once we were front field I may or may not have made a few adjustments to the program. We'll see how it goes.
She sits where where Victor Cruz salsas
Immediately after ensemble we retreated to the Pittman RV for the AC had been pumping and it was the only choice. A decision to dine on traditional Chinese food was made so we filled up the van with Daniel, Eric and JP Pittman himself and ventured out to find the only place within 100 miles that had more than 1 star rating. It was not easy
But we did, and crab rangoon for all, along with Yuula's first platter of lo mein, which she barely touched. She was sticking to her bottle for now.
Got back to the stadium in the pouring rain and not a soul found outside of shelter. We got into the stadium and must've asked at least 20 "guides" where the Cadet alumni gathering was taking place, even giving clues as to it being in a "west hall" somewhere and everyone looked at us like we were morons. Finally arriving at the 50 yard field level suite called THE WEST HALL (c'mon people) we immediately reunited with the likes of which have not been seen in some time. Photos were taken.
Yuula played bunny catch with Jonathan and some DCI judging elite.
They do have a soft side.
Then we kicked back in our air conditioned booth away from the rain and the humidity. It had to be done.
I think Yuula had more fans than the Cavaliers last night.
Good times folks. See ya next year, and not a moment sooner.
