Vibrating My Brain

Laura was born very close to Father's Day, so every year her birthday falls right around the joyous occasion. This year in the birthday card she got from her parents she got a little suggestion as to what would make a terrific first Father's Day gift for me. It was pretty clear of the intention. The intention was highlighted in yellow.

Always one to take a hint I knew the time was soon coming that I had to break out the clippers, for a couple reasons.
  • One: It was damn hot working out in the yard with all this fur, plus the NBA headband I been trying to sport was deemed ineffective early on and the hair was such a force to be reckoned with that hats would continuously be cast off my head in violent manner.
  • Two: Maybe I can finally avoid those obnoxious comparisons to funny man Zack Galifianakis. Don't get me wrong, I like his comedy, but when I learned finally that I can't even get a free ice cream cone out of the uncanny likeness, it just became a nuisance.
For those of you who are so blessed to not have to lay eyes on me day in and day out and are unaware of how I've let myself go..

The main reason for the delay was that I fear for how Yuula will react to her newly buzzed father. We're in a good place right now and I don't want her thinking I'm some weird stranger. But I guess her memory center is still underdeveloped enough that I pretty much have to gain her trust everyday already. We'll see how it goes.

Here's this mess...

A Moderate Crash/Zooey Hair

I've been doing a lot of work on the computer after I picked up these hard drives (one which already crashed two days after I got it and started filling it up), moving files around, freeing up space. It's actually kind of work. Things are progressing, then I woke up this morning and iTunes for some reason had crashed and deleted my entire library of over 6,000 albums. That sucked. Then Laura had brought home some nice liquid candle fragrance things, a holiday cheer, and I broke one and the liquid spilled all over the table and ate away at the finish. So now there's this...

IMG_4444

Lovely right... But Laura was right this morning when she said, "Everything in our house is damaged. It's our style." Fair enough. That's why I love her.

Other than that everything is fine. Giants finally won this weekend and they're playing on Thanksgiving against the mighty Broncos, so that should be fun. Plus Laura got her hair cut today. I don't know what it looks like yet because she went to her friends house on the way to work. I think it will look something like this...

That's her hero, Zooey.

Okay back to it. Counting down the hours til Thanksgiving, where by law I'll be doing nothing except eating a watching football.

That's Not Fair

Big day yesterday. Taking care of some last minute things before we go outta town for the weekend. First! I had to cut my hair. Gonna be in a wedding ya know, and I wanna look right smart now.

IMG_7548

I think it looks good.

Laura had this Chili's gift card from her birthday just burning a hole in her pocket so we blew that.

And on the way home we saw that it was family night at the Tannersville Fireman's Carnival, and well, who can pass up that promise of entertainment.

Not us!

IMG_7567

Turns out this carnival is pint sized. We still stuck around.

IMG_7578

Where's all the rides?

IMG_7581

No. We didn't even try.

This is where we laughed at how close the ferris wheel was in proximity to the power lines.

IMG_7584

Ha Ha Ha!!

Chilly at the [mini] Himalaya?

IMG_7594

And the biggest event at the Tannersville Fireman's Carnival, the reason it comes to town ever year: The Rat Wheel. What's a Rat Wheel you say? Well apparently a Rat Wheel is kind of like a Wheel Of Fortune game show, only rat size, and instead of pushing the wheel, the rats are on it. And then what happens? Glad you asked. Then a dude with a dinner bell ring-a-dings in the rats ears til he's good and terrified and tries to hide in one of the many holes cut out in this rodent-scaled wheel of horror. And then someone wins an oversized inflatable crayola.

Check it out we took video:

Rat Wheel, by Pepsi.

We cheered up some when on our way out we spotted the ice cream waffle stand.

Close up?

IMG_7620

Drool on your keyboard.

The fair was a little disappointing but we still had a couple more things on our to-do list:

1) Cross a grassy field.

IMG_7631

And, 2) watch the sun set.

IMG_7646

Good day. Now back to it.

1st Try Hairs Cut

I needed a haircut. I think I always need a haircut. Laura wanted me to go to a salon or whatever yesterday but I just really don't like that. I haven't gone to a Great Clips or anything since like 1999. Harvard Square, I remember $12. Since then I'm a DIY guy when it comes to hairs cut. Not always the best idea but... who am I trying to impress?

So today Laura offered her haircutting skills, which would be none. She's never cut any hair, ever. So why not start with mine. What's the worst that could happen?

I think it turned out pretty well. For a first try. I mean, I don't look completely unpresentable. Just moderately unpresentable. Good job hun.
