Basically Back To The Basics

Yeah. Christmas is over, and after I spent the 26th in a depressive whirlwind I bucked up and realized we got another little package just over the horizon that I got a shit-ton of work to do to prepare for. His bedroom is the least of our worries right now, but that is probably also the biggest project that 2014 holds in the early going. His room doubled as a gift-wrapping/gift-hiding hub for the last few weeks and right now it looks like Christmas threw up and was left to stew in its own juices. That on top of the random other items that would fall more into the temporary storage category, I have a feeling I'm gonna be doing a lot of packing in the coming weeks.

That and I have to finish the crib I gifted to Laura half-done. We need to re-work all the baby bottles/diaper supplies back into the homestead, which is not as easy as it sounds. Part of that challenge will be just finding everything again.

This morning Laura's belly looked low. We're taking bets...

Paranoiapocalypse

It must've been because I left the weather channel on last night when we went to bed and all the paranoia sunk into our heads, because this morning we both woke up and said, "we should go to the grocery store." We feared for the worst, a madhouse, empty shelves, rioting in the streets, etc.

This is what we saw...

Ample supply and minimal clientele. They were out of D batteries, but we found them next door, so, disaster averted.

So we got out a about, no riots, no apocalypse, yet. This is supposed to be a doozy. We got our power outage preparedness kit together.

Candles: check. Flashlights: check. Water: check. Oranges: check.

The Overpacker And Her Relunctant Sleeper

1347156193685

This is what I deal with. Laura packs a months worth of clothing for a two day mini-vacation and Yuula just wants to watch the bug movie on more time before she goes to bed. One has no concept of moderation and the other an ending. I'll let them keep each other company tonight. The Fifth Element is on.

Take A Look At The Five And Ten

The table is set. Not with plates. Well some plates, but mostly with snowmen and angels and Santas and candles. Things red, white and green. Tomorrow morning we will set out to cover every possible inch of this house in holiday-ness. Hopefully we have time to light the tree as well. It's got stages folks. Snowflakes are stage four. I have to get off the computer now so I can get my daily flakes in. Laura says ten a day. Each. That's gonna be a blizzard.

This Boy Is Exhausted

DSC_0028

Big day tomorrow. I think the girls are finishing up in the kitchen and I am getting ready to call it a night. Lotsa cleaning up the yard and stringing a few lights for tomorrow. Rain came around 3 and halted the process but we're supposed to have some sun tomorrow so... there's time.

Big day tomorrow tho. Yes I can't believe it's been a year. It feels like 20.
