This Time It's Here To Stay (Probably)
And the digging out begins
No matter how fast or far or long I drag her, she will never be satisfied
Un-inspired snowman building
He came out pretty good
Finished just in time to not feel our feet anymore
I don't adore being cold and wet in the snow, but cocoa and cookies makes it more than worth it

The Melting Dead
What emotion does this image evoke? That is how I feel this morning. Monday has never crashed so hard. Lots to do. I will process the weekend and report, however it may not be in a timely fashion. In the meantime, watch out for zombie snowmen.

I'm Thawy. Tho Thawy.
It's official, As of today, March 18th 2010 at 5:50pm the last pile of snow from our yard had melted. We've thawed. Where once there stood a mighty snowman is now just a random pile of stone and scarf. I'm wearing a t-shirt and slippers, with no socks! All the cats are out and enjoying the warmth. Except Dents of course. Never in my life have I been so pleased by weather. I will look forward to this now every year, along with the first red leafy tree and the first flake of snow.

I Will Be Extra Outrageous
So it's needless to say our life has changed the past month or so. Rewind to before Christmas and we were doing the do we did so well, and without a care in the world, kinda. And not to say that any new developments have created any sort of tension or significant personal stress. If anything it's done the opposite. Those plus signs caused us to sit up and take notice. To maybe grab hold the reins a little tighter, instead of dangling them over our shoulder or twiddling them between our toes. And it feels good.

a benefit of the early commute
We've given up a lot the past couple weeks. Clean clothes, nights together, Office reruns to a box of chianti. The little things that came to become habit, good or bad or neither. But we've replaced them with other things, like eating well, and dinner before 10pm, and a possible sense of design versus our forthright meandering about the universe. That's pretty heavy.

Miguel's final bow
And it's been interesting playing this role. I know for most it's all part their hundrum, but to me it's new and I'm sure someday I'll get so sick of it I'll wanna throw myself off the roof of the building, possibly into the compactor, but for now! I'm cool. I come home everyday with aching feet and a sore back, starving and smelling like touline di-isocyanate thinking I should be miserable, but I'm not. Plus it gives me an actual reason to drink that chai tea every morning.

she owes me an apology
And things are only gonna get more peculiar in the coming months. So far no disgusting food cravings have popped up, outside her normal obsessions, but I'm counting on the days of olives and ice cream or popcorn and peanut butter. That actually kinda sounds good. Am I as scared as I should be? Probably not. But that's okay. Nothing about any of this has scared me yet so why start now?

it comes with the territory, apparently
I heard a lyric today off the new Xiu Xiu album (which is killer by the way) that I really liked for no reason, as stupid as it was. Maybe it was the backing clatter or the pounding hail or the fact that I felt like I knew what he meant when Jamie Stewart squeezed out "If you expect me to be outrageous I will be extra outrageous." I don't know why that coincides with anything I just said but.... does it matter?

And We Will Name Him Miguel
Okay maybe not Miguel, but we felt that a Spanish name definitely.
This is the first real size snowman I've built since I was like 5 maybe, and same for Laura. I have to say, he turned out pretty good. Only a few snafus during the construction, but a few days later he's still standing in the front yard, so we must've done something right.
In her condition, Laura gets cravings out of nowhere and eats the first thing she can find.
Building a snowman is tough work for a day off.

Snowmen & Llamas & Guards, Oh My!
This is gonna be kinda quick cuz we are trying to get on the road but...
Yesterday was fun! :)
We drove up to CT because we promised to see Eric Brust in what could be his final performance ever! Or close to it. We left early enough to trudge thru the snow safely (Dad) and still have the time to cruise thru a few of my old stomping grounds. We took Merritt Parkway because of its pleasing aesthetics.

We pulled into Norwalk around noon, bypassed Stew Leonards in interest of time, headed all the way up Route 1, past Pier One where I used to work in Westport, which is now a Men's Warehouse, had some Duchess (which you can only get in CT (Fran loved it)), breezed thru Bridgeport to see the old attic apartment on Scofield Ave, scooted across the highway to Fairfield to see that miserable little place I lived with Tricia & Dean (& Johhny, good times) and made it to Trumbull Highschool just in time to catch Blessed Sacraments' final moments of rehearsal.

Saw some old old friends there, Andrew Hannenberg, Eric Schraeder, Sebastien Galleguillos and finally met Eric's other best bud Carrie.
Then there were llamas.

We had a few hours to kill before the shows we wanted to see began so we took off to Weston, a favorite old stomping ground, to see if we could find my old house. Much to my surprise, my ninja intuition kicked in (like Chris Farley in Beverly Hills Ninja) and we found it, 223 Georgetown Road. As excited as I was that I could find the place we were more excited about the town itself. Let's just say that if this whole Poconos thing doesn't work out this week you will be able to find us in the woods of Connecticut somewhere.

Time to head back to the show, but first, we felt the need to build a snowman.

We got back to the school just in time to run into a ton of old friends (Sherrene Simon, Dale Powers, Lisa & Syreeta) and catch a handful of teams, which, honestly is more than we could handle. We really only came up to see some friends. And we did. So we were good.

We headed home before finals began, but on the way out ran into Maria Ioannnides. Fran & her were really close before Maria moved to NJ, but a reunion was bound to occur. She's all grown up. Also bound to happen.
Ok, be back next week. Stay tuned, catch up, buhbye.
