Heifers Thru Hippos
After lunch we took on part two of the zoo tour. She was kind of obsessed with sitting inside this egg.
Then she fed cows
This guy was my favorite
Our old friend the polar bear
Meerkats are the only animals that look right back at ya
She had been talking about hippos for awhile now, but was less than impressed with the real thing
And the alligator was hiding, but there tilapia seemed to be a decent stand-in

Yet The Fish Lives
Yuula: "Daddy-O, I feed the fish all by myself!"
Daddy-O: "I see that. What happened?"
Yuula: "I make a mess"
Daddy-O: "How did you make this mess?"
Yuula: "It came out the jar"
Daddy-O: "No, I mean how did the fish food get on the table?"
Yuula: {pause to ponder the question} "We buy it from the store!"
Daddy-O: "Why is the fish food all over the table?"
Yuula: "Sometimes I make a mess"
Daddy-O: "Are you crazy?"
Yuula: "Yeah, and Mommy too!"

Just Floating On In
I guess it's fitting that on the rainiest day in recent memory the girls bring home a new fish. My bet is that it'll be dead before Mother's Day. If he's lucky.

They Can't All Be, And They Shouldn't Anyways
One of those days. We all have them. Sorta went by without much fuss, but you're still glad you woke up and got out of bed. Yuula was nuts and did not trash her room. I had lotsa of phone calls and very few emails. Laura got a new tire on the van and cooked a delicious dinner.
We did laundry this evening but laughed at Yuula the whole time as she
threw clothes and climbed the mountain of pillows and blankets on our
bed. We're supposed to be doing some home renovation research, her on
hers me on mine, but I'm blogging. Shh don't tell.

If We Must Have Fish...
4 days, you better have your affairs in order
if we got them something cool to live in maybe then all our fish wouldn't commit so much suicide

Fins Over Fur
We've been talking about getting a dog since we moved here. It's going to be so fun once we finally do. But in the meantime, we got this old fishtank...
Yuula loves fish, ever since we got one for Isabella on her birthday (her parents have promised retribution). So why not. It costs like $4.75 to feed them for a whole year. We got five.
Yuula is quite enthralled with the fish, never passing thru the dining room without saying hello. We'll see how long that lasts. She named them all the same names. Fissy.
They were hard to photograph.
So yay, fish. I think two are already dead.

Buggie's A Birthday Girl
Yesterday was Isabella's 2nd birthday. It was hosted by Elmo.
Here's Yuula reluctantly giving Isabella her birthday gift, a fish.
The girls had a blast sliding and rearranging the party decorations.
The real highlight of the party came when one of the adults realized that the Trunks driveway was on quite a steep downhill slope and given the proper vehicle the kids could really pick up some speed going down it. And no it wasn't me. Some of the kids were not too happy being hurled downhill at the bemusement of the surrounding adults. Some thought it was the best thing they'd ever done in their short lives and decided they wanted to do nothing but this for the rest of their days.
Can you guess which one Yuula was?
Then there was the celebratory sugar gorge.
I think everyone had a nice time. I hope Isabella enjoys her fish, Santiago.
Live long and prosper Santiago.

In Search Of The Elusive Yardsale
We set out yesterday morning to begin the time honored tradition of yardsale hunting. Bargains are out there to be found. We just needed to track them down. Last summer we got two highback basket chairs for $10, a bicycle for $15 and a stratocaster for $9. We can do better. All we had to do was spot all those colorful posters with black arrows pointing us in the right direction. Should be easy.
We got as far as our storage unit with not a sign of yard junk, so we stopped in to change the account with which they withdraw money. Errands take precedence. Then we headed out towards Delaware Water Gap because we had so much luck there before. Still nothing. We got breakfast and zig zagged thru some other backroad neighborhoods. Strike three. We decided to head out towards our CSA since today was the opening day for their buying store (which we later found out we were members of by default and had no idea) but found nothing on the way there either. We did however take in the delicious vinegars and cheeses offered by our farmers and Laura snatched up some Jurassic sized rhubarb. Someone's having pie soon.
From there we decided to go out to 611, by backroad of course, to an antique shop that we've always wanted to stop at but never had the luck of driving by when it's open. Some of these antique shop owners can be downright lazy. We weren't there for 5 minutes when there was an emergency that needed the assistance of running water and naturally, there was none to be had. Maybe another day.
Oh ad still no yardsales.
One last stop over in the commercial district, looking for work jeans and being sucked in by puppy day at the pet store. Yuula took a liking to the fish.
Looks like we're dragging that old tank out of storage.
And not a single yardsale all day.
