Days At The Grands

(from August 14th/15th)

We gave Yuula away to my parents for a couple of days.

We did not miss her. Not one tiny bit.

They took her to Sesame Place with Uncle Tyler and Dylan.

And the beach for a little ragtime goodness.

We missed her terribly.

When Daddy's Away

Think the kids missed me tonight?

Here's a family portrait Yuula did. I'm the little guy in the bottom corner.

So proud.

Not A Single Parent

My wife left me alone with these kids, for two whole days. The days are what they've been, but it's the nights that I'm not accustomed to. The first night, Aesop did not sleep at all. The second night I prepared with a nice big vat of coffee at 9 at night, only for both kids to pass right out and sleep thru the whole night, while I sat up in bed and caught up with awful all-nite television. I'm tired.

Good thing I had a little bit of help.

Ladies Of The Night

Laura left me for this lady...

...and left me with this one.

Warrshers & Tuba-Firrs

I was on fire today, taking charge while Dave was dealing with a dick of an electrician. I was seeing five steps ahead, in the zone, it was building itself. Then I heard from Laura that they were at a studio getting Yuula's first photos taken and I got sad that I was missing it. The day began to drag and I drank way too much hotel coffee, which was delicious.

Dave and I are getting along. He makes fun of my multi-purpose shorts and cookie addiction and I make fun of his brain functions. We both make fun of the locals. I think they make fun of us but I can barely understand them. Lots of fun being made. Done at the installation for today and gonna bury ourselves in wires for the evening. Coming home tomorrow. That's the plan. I hope it doesn't change. I miss my girls.

Away & At Camp

I'm eating pineapple quarters. They are delicious. If you have access to them I highly recommend you purchase them in bulk.

I'm at camp, spring training in West Virginia. Wesleyan College. We were here last year. It's the same. I got here last night around 6, watched some rehearsal, moved into my room, wrote some, taught some today. I don't know many of the kids yet. They seem nice & fine & good. Same ol' ya know.
The sleeping situation leaves little to be desired. Yes I have my own room and a bed and pillows etc, it's just hot as hell. And there's a railroad that runs literally outside the window of the dorms we're in whose trains insist on blaring their horns at 1 am, 4 am & 7 am. I woke up terrified and deafened numerous times. Today I bought a high power fan and am closing my window. We'll see if that remedies the awful sleeping situation any.
It is late. I'll be heading to bed now. Lots to do tomorrow. Lots to write, teach, rewrite, reteach, just do in general. I don't mean to come off negative (if I am). I do enjoy being here, some good times with some great friends. I think... no, I know I don't like being away from Fran (this is the first time we've been away from each other since we were married). Yeah, that's a big downer. But for right now, this is my job, and I'll enjoy it while I'm here. But I cannot wait for the summer to be through. On to bigger and better things, ya know. Just time for a change is all....
