The Future In Ruin
Italian photographer Rä di Martino tracked down old sets from Star Wars left to whither away in the Tunisian desert using only Google maps.
Apparently you can only get to them by quad bike, and when you arrive you have to greet the homeless guy who has moved into the ruins.
After di Martino published his photos some enraged fanboys decided to raise some money and now a restoration project is in the works.
I say leave them

Perhaps It Was For Pure Profits
Was the destruction of the Death Star an inside job?
Some people have way too much time on their hands.

The Force Is Among Us
Ok I give up. Apparently I am a Star Wars fanboy. This is my 7th post on the subject in like 2 months. I can't help it if this amazing stuff keeps beaming into my house via interwebs that I have no control over. These photo manipulations by Cedric Delsaux are some of the most amazing photos, period, and then you add the emperor's royal guards in there... c'mon, that is frameworthy stuff.
See.
The rest of his stuff is amazing cool too.

Star Wars UnDirectors Cut
In 2009 some dude asked people to remake Star Wars: A New Hope, using any method or medium they so desired. Then they spliced together the results in 15 second snippets and recreated the whole damn film! I watched the first couple scenes and was highly entertained. I haven't watched the whole thing yet but I figure this is a good place to keep it safe. It's literally Star Wars as you've never seen it before.
I know by posting this I'm proving myself a liar when I try and convince people I'm not an obsessive Star Wars fanboy, but you gotta admit it's pretty damn cool... they're working on Empire now. eeeeeeeeeeeeeee

As Deaf As Darth
I don't consider myself in the ranks of "Star Wars nerd" as much as some people may insinuate. Just being a male born in the 70's does not automatically make your ultimate fantasy a gold bikini-wearing Carrie Fisher. But I do love me some jedi action as much as the next guy and while most of the spoofs out there are pretty terrible, I had to watch this one twice...
What!?

Milkhamah On Hanukkah
Hey! Hanukkah starts tonight!
I know, it's just another excuse to post something Star Wars related. Shameful.

The Boredom Is Strong In This One
Found this little nugget the other day and had no place to put it, so here it is. The self proclaimed "home of the biggest range of complex Star Wars origami models on the web", I'm guessing it's the only Star Wars origami on the web. Check it out tho. Some of them are a mess. Comically. But he keeps churning out new iconic vehicles and even got an R2-D2 in there. The boredom is strong in this one.

May The Mouse Be With You, Always
So, apparently while we were wallowing in darkness George Lucas sold ILM to Disney and now they say that there will be a new Star Wars movie by 2015, with two more to follow. I was kind of course infatuated with the original trilogy, I accepted and was content with the hexalogy and the finality of the whole thing. But now the apparent ennealogy has got me all excited and I'm not sure what to do about it. Hop on the fanboy train for the next three years or just play it down and act aloof.
I have always wondered what happened to Logray...

Tea And Fishface
No, not tea and fishcakes, tea and fishface.
Those are her two new favorite hobbies. We got her a tea set at a yardsale couple weeks ago and she has been serving her guests (us) tea every night since. I have no idea where she got the idea to do such a thing. Maybe Caillou had a tea party episode.
Her other favorite thing to do is make a fishface at the camera. Some of them come out pretty scary. These are the "cute" ones.
And all this was going on while I tried to have her watch Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. But that didn't last long because I decided that I needed to think about what order I wanted her to see these films in. Did I want her to experience the saga as her father before her did, 4-5-6-1-2-3, or did I want her to possibly benefit from seeing from beginning to end, therefore also increasing the quality of the films with each viewing.? Then I realized she wasn't paying any attention anyhow and I turned on The Fifth Element.

The Flake Is Strong With This One
I know, I know. Christmas Eve is no time to geek out on Star Wars, but as a recently appointed master and connoisseur of all things paper-flaked related I just had to take this opportunity to give a little shoutout to this website that not only displays the finished product but also gives a diagram of how to achieve such a tremendously dorkly yet epic set of snowflakes to dangle about at your leisure.

Happy Life Day
Yes I do own the Star Wars Christmas album, and in the jumbled shuffle of our holiday playlist one of the tracks just came up and played straight thru. It wasn't til the Wookie howl at the end that Laura even asked, "What the hell was that?". I have no answer for it. Just like I have no answer for this (don't miss Chewie's flashback).
Which led me to this...
Not very Christmas-y but... funny.
