As Deaf As Darth

I don't consider myself in the ranks of "Star Wars nerd" as much as some people may insinuate. Just being a male born in the 70's does not automatically make your ultimate fantasy a gold bikini-wearing Carrie Fisher. But I do love me some jedi action as much as the next guy and while most of the spoofs out there are pretty terrible, I had to watch this one twice...

Those Are Really Some Christmas Songs

Sufjan Stevens has released five new volumes of his wondrously eccentric Christmas tunes and if my math is correct that brings him to precisely 100 original holiday tunes, or at the very least original takes on classic ones. It really is a collection worth having, but I'm not telling you how to live your life, okay.

Here is the delightful promo spot he made to promote volumes 6-10. I find this frigin hilarious, special attention to the scrolling song titles (all fake) not to mention a spot on performance of Rosie Thomas, whose very own Christmas album, A Very Rosie Christmas, has become a must-have staple right alongside Bing, Burl, Guaraldi and Emmet Otter.

He's released a handful of online videos around this album, one more random than the next, and I'm pretty sure I'll post them all...

Christmas, Yay!

Genre Bending

I came across some recut trailers yesterday. Most were pretty ludicrous, but some were kinda funny. It's easy to imagine Willy Wonka as a horror film, but Silence of the Lambs as a love story & The Shining as a romantic comedy where a son finally finds a good home? Radical.
