I have a new favorite human. I don't know if it's the loops or the sweaters or the afro or the nonsensical lyricism but... when I was coming up in high school and the question everyone asked you is what you wanted to be when you grow up, this is the thing that came to my mind that I couldn't put into words. I like it.

It's A Day With New Dresses

Vibrating My Brain
Laura was born very close to Father's Day, so every year her birthday falls right around the joyous occasion. This year in the birthday card she got from her parents she got a little suggestion as to what would make a terrific first Father's Day gift for me. It was pretty clear of the intention. The intention was highlighted in yellow.
Always one to take a hint I knew the time was soon coming that I had to break out the clippers, for a couple reasons.
For those of you who are so blessed to not have to lay eyes on me day in and day out and are unaware of how I've let myself go..
The main reason for the delay was that I fear for how Yuula will react to her newly buzzed father. We're in a good place right now and I don't want her thinking I'm some weird stranger. But I guess her memory center is still underdeveloped enough that I pretty much have to gain her trust everyday already. We'll see how it goes.
Here's this mess...
And the final product...
Always one to take a hint I knew the time was soon coming that I had to break out the clippers, for a couple reasons.
- One: It was damn hot working out in the yard with all this fur, plus the NBA headband I been trying to sport was deemed ineffective early on and the hair was such a force to be reckoned with that hats would continuously be cast off my head in violent manner.
- Two: Maybe I can finally avoid those obnoxious comparisons to funny man Zack Galifianakis. Don't get me wrong, I like his comedy, but when I learned finally that I can't even get a free ice cream cone out of the uncanny likeness, it just became a nuisance.

Well, Well, Well Michelle
Prompted by my boy Jeff, I've decided to start giving shoutouts to the readers that I wasn't aware we actually had. I thought it was just our parents all these years, but apparently we keep it interesting enough to attract an audience. Flattered. I should really put a little more effort into this thing now, huh?... hmm
Anyhow.. Check it out! It's Michelle!!!
Michelle and I go way back. Not as far back as some, but fairly far. We spent a few seasons packed on a bus with some other hooligans and out in the hot sun and worked together for a handful when we both lived down in Georgia. Good times with an Eminem soundtrack. She has a cat named Puma Kitty. Here we are pretending to want to be at this bar.
Michelle and I both have moved on and apart, but it's always nice to hear how she's doing. I'm pretty sure she's a masseuse these days, so I'll have to hit her up for a quick press next time I see her, which will be right around Labor Day in Canada. I know, random. Michelle likes taco salad and Michael Jackson, may God rest his tortured soul.
Love ya Michelle!

All For A Little More Entrance
We're planning on opening up the secret door in our house and using it as our main entrance, but there were obstacles. A bookshelf, a blanket rack and mainly, a piano. A total overhaul was necessary. We thought about putting the computer back upstairs but that would really hinder my progress on the job or Yuula's progress in the living room, so we flipped the place.
Results:
The room feels much more open and overall I think we like it. Gonna take a little getting used to a few things (this morning I came downstairs round 5 to get a little work done and headed for the corner where the computer used to be and ended up taking a 30 minute nap in the recliner), but we really like the new flow. And now we gotta pry that door open.

Trying To End With A Smile
I feel like that last post may have left the day with an air of negativity. So here instead is a photo of nutjob Yuula and her new flail-style game involving the tv remote and my back scratcher. It's entertaining. Making me forget that my back hurts. Oops. I ruined it.

The Back Strikes Back
Well, what I'd really like to be showing you tonight is all the work we did today rearranging the living room, but I didn't take any photos because I've spent the last hour writhing in pain on floor. Seems that the two weeks lifting and carrying boulders along with today's move of the computer desk, couch and piano and my back finally gave in. Or gave out. I don't know which. But I know that it hurts to sit, walk, and lift my legs. Lying down is my only recourse. Alas, the photo of the ceiling. Tomorrow you can see the new living room layout. Hopefully some sleep is all my back needs. And those four Motrin I just took.

Tragic Cats And Tinkle Fingers
It's a bad week to be a cat here. Gabukobiwe showed up after going missing for over a month and she was pretty torn up and quite skiddish. She was never jumpy before. Must be battle trauma. Then Høgni showed up while we were gardening and she somehow managed to get the entire right side of her body covered in some kind of tar that has hardened into a sticky black shell. We tried to bathe her but that may have upset her more than being paved did. Then we noticed that Fawsja's four kittens has mysteriously become three. We hope for the best, but know better.
In slightly happier news, Yuula has taken up a musical instrument...
...only because she can now reach it. There will never be another quiet moment.

One Day Like This A Year Will See Me Right
Father's Day is better than birthdays. Birthdays just make you feel old and then you eat too much cake. Father's Day means that we watch Return of the Jedi instead of Housewives of NJ (even tho since I'm now on the computer the TV has mysteriously returned to terrible Italians). Father's Day means I get a back rub tonight. I think. I kinda need one.
I'll tell the day with photos...
gifts in black & white
pancakes of blueberry
a barn at sunset
a chair in the garden
a baby, a lady & a dog
a garden on wheels
foxglove and dogcoat
evening primrose
Yuula's first ice cream cone
she is an Estler
her best Colonel Sanders impression
sunshone child
a splash of color
a work in progress
a blank canvas
I don't feel like I've accomplished anything if at the end of the day my white v-neck hasn't turned to brown.
Happy Father's Day dads. Can't wait for next year.
