September Outtakes, Part 1
Aren't we all?
From whence his eyes came
De-knotting hairs
Patchy on the scratchy
Clean but beaten

So Far Celebrating With Hot Rocks
We have not been all that 4th-y yet today. We laid in bed til 9 laughing at Yuula and then went downstairs and ate some eggs and laughed at Yuula some more. Then we spent what was left of the morning working a little bit in the yard. The summer is quickly slipping thru our fingers and the list of things to get done is getting all the more burdensome. I tackled m main nemesis, this new front patio.
I decided to tear it apart and start over this morning. Good idea with bad timing. The sun beats down on these suckers, and me as well, causing them to reach stifling temperatures themselves. So I'm getting hit by the sun and burning rock all at the same time. It was a joy. I've said it before but I'm saying it again, I don't want to ever lay a patio again. But I will.
It looks ok. Still more to do.
Laura threw down a patriotic tablecloth for lunch so... that's something.
We've bathed everyone and regained our strengths so we're going to head out and try and celebrate this fine country and its hot rocks.

The Sun Can't Stop Us (Mostly)
That is an actual picture of the sun over our house yesterday and a pretty spot on visualization of how it actually felt.
It was HOT!
But we still got some stuff done. Daylillies transplanted, rocks shoveled, tomato plants grounded, peppers in the soil, and everyone hydrated fully.
Of course we were back in the shade of the house by 1 cooling ourselves with cold showers and ice cold smoothies. But we did have the gall to have dinner on the back deck. By that time it was actually kind of nice out so... barbecue chicken, zucchini fries and garlic scapes on the grill. Really quite good.
And we even braved the heat to go on a walk, albeit not our most exhilarating, we did think we found a giant dead cat that turned out just to be a guard lion, and Yuula did some road rock redesign.
She's very picky about her road rocks.

Requiem For A Wake Up
What a lovely day out this window. Getting warmer [again] and got a list of things to do a mile long. It's all come down together. Went to sleep halfway thru Requiem For A Dream and woke up pretty much right where I left off. I love when IFC plays one movie over and over thru the night. They know me. But that final montage is a rough way to wake up.
The sun will prevail!
