But Purple's Her Favorite

It's official; She's a maniac. She could not wait to dye her hands black this morning, and did not waste anytime. She barely finished her french toast and the chants had begun. I'm surprised we only broke one egg, and that it was broken by Vic.

He's not into it yet.

Double bunny ears.

The painting is never done. But Easter is tomorrow.

Adding Gold And Eating Dye

After a fairly long day we finally got around to dying eggs around 9pm. Yuula was up for it. And she only broke two eggs.

The she tried to eat one of the Paas pellets. They do look a little like candy.

She took the painting off the eggs quite seriously.

She had some kind of kanji influenced designs going tonight.

Not too many to find, but enough for eggs goldenrod.

Everlovin' Egg Dyin'

DSC_0002

Friday night we dyed the eggs. We hoped Yuula would be excited about the tradition. We didn't really want to hand her fragile eggs of dip her hand in colored vinegar so plastic eggs in a bowl of water had to suffice. And it did, until she realized the plastic eggs came apart to act as small water transportation units. It was a matter of minutes before she had transferred the water in the bowl onto her lap. Needless to say the evening activities ended soon there after.

Eastereveaster

DSC_0175

Easter Eve isn't exactly on any calendars but I think it gave Christmas Eve a run for its money last night. I know, blasphemy right? But I just said gave it a run for its money, not won the race. Get on with it.

The night began with a delicious dinner of Italian chicken over multigrain pasta and fried pumpkin eggplant, all covered with a special sauce that I've been concocting and have pretty near perfection. After dinner we got right to the deed and busted out some eggs I hard boiled before dinner, slapped some bunny ears on the girl and it was on...

All of us took different approaches to dying the eggs, some with pinpoint precision, some with a gentle nurturing touch and others with guerrilla style attack tactics. They all work so it was all good.

The 2011 lineup.

Over the course of an hour and the consumption of a monstrous eight inch coconut cream egg we had completed the task and moved onto decorating some bunny cookies Eric brought.

Can you match the bunny to its maker?

We're not sure they're actually edible.

We were ready for tomorrow so we played for the remainder of the evening until we got too tired to hold our ears up anymore.

Easter Eve

Tonight we watched the Sound of Music (another film Fran has never seen) and dyed eggs. What a grand time it was. I love how you can watch old movies you haven't seen in years and they take on a entirely new meaning now that you have a [slightly] tighter grasp on the world and life and history. After taking a few highschool sessions of Mans Inhumanity To Man, even The Sound of Music isn't all song and dance anymore like it was when I was 7. '

On a lighter less Nazi-oriented note...

...We had to go to 4 stores tonight to find the last box of egg dye in the greater tri-state area. Check it...

Now we just have to wait and see if someone hides them or whatever. I dunno. It's been too long. I just want my eggs goldenrod.
