22 Hours Of Food, Friends, And Face Painting
Our first day in Georgia was arguably also our busiest. After staying up past midnight with our arrival/greeting rituals we were up and out of the house around 5:30 to meet Christina for breakfast at the local IHOP where we dined with other early birds and were the youngest diners by at least 45 years.
We learned all about her new love, their plans for plans, and the ugly underbelly within the world of a modern day pinup girl. I had Peaches & Cream Brioche French Toast. Delectable.
Next was Budd. We used the excuse that I needed a new shirt and tie, which I did, but, it's complicated. Budd dragged us around his store, showed off our daughter to strangers, and gave us the skinny on his exciting news. It's hush hush. You know what? It's hush hush hush.
Then Christian for lunch, which we dragged Budd to as well, and solicited at Chili's way longer than any diner should. We never make it Chili's nowadays, so we stocked up on Southwestern Eggrolls. Don't judge.
When we got home I tried to take a nap, but the girls decided that they would take advantage of my stillness and try and paint my face like a dimestore hooker.
Yuula did her own too, but she somehow managed to still look cute.
Then Laura had to go out for Mariah's bachelorette party. I know nothing of the events of the evening. But I did find this photo on her phone, so... there was shrimp.
I took advantage of the wife being out and free babysitting to hit the town myself and went into town with the gang, meeting up at Rick's and then heading out for tacos in the rain and then a little live music at 529 in East Atlanta. Headliners were Takenobu and Weekend, but to me, Book of Colors was astounding. Got to meet the lead singer backstage and got the skinny. Remember that name.
you won't
I got home at 3:30am

Grand Total Tutus
Yuula got a gift in the mail from one Christian of the Ellesmere-Jones clan. Whodatunk it, a perfect fit. And honestly Yuula getting tired of her old tutus. I'm kidding. She frigin loves the things. Sometimes she wears six or seven a day. Top it off with a flowered headband and Yuula had her day made, which is sometimes not the easiest thing to make. Somedays all I've got for her is some loose change or a youtube kitty video.
Thanks 'tian

Vacation Ending Vows
The events on our last day in Georgia were the initial draw to come south in the first place. Tiffany Luoma, high school friend of Laura, model student of mine, was tying the knot. It just had sweetness stamped all over it.
Spent the reception catching up with Erica and Zink and trying to get Yuula to start a dance party. Results varied.
But they had a photo booth that we of course abused every chance we got.

Good times. Who's next?

In The Full Forces
I'm just now getting around to sifting thru the rubble from the past weekend. I haven't put up any photos from our little getogether on Sunday night back at the Fallons, this time in full force. So here's that...

Oh and nothing's really been going on since we got home. Working. Both of us. Laura's on that dreading closing shift where she's so tempted to sleep til noon and I am playing catchup with a job that had a 4 day headstart on me. No fun. But all is good now. We are planning the rest of our pre-Christmas festivities very tightly, because really we don't have much free time. The list is ambitious, but we have a good feeling about it. By which I haven't even begun to start really celebrating full force. Tomorrow we start with uploading what I hold to be the most thorough Christmas playlist on Earth. Try and prove me wrong. It's pretty deep. But I'm never above taking new additions so... suggestions?

Meeting Miles Fallon
We knew that it'd be love at first sight for these two, but we never thought they'd skip right to the sweet bickering of a 20 year marriage. Miles John Murphy Fallon, you are one happy and handsome young man. Thank you for teaching Yuula to trampoline. Now I have to add that to her Christmas list.

They took turns in the baby stroller. Yuula was first.

Then Miles.

She is a strong girl.

Great to see Kheli of course, and Christian surprised us as well. Hope to get together tomorrow be fore we head back.

All Vampires And Bananas
Like a whirlwind, visits sweet and short. It was nice to see Christian and great to finally spend some time getting to know Katrina. The girls seem to be doing quite well for themselves and hair aficionados, working in the glamorous field of film and television, stage and screen. I can't divulge their clientele for fear of painful death but I can give you a clue: Vampires. And before you guess incorrectly let me just tell you that you probably can't guess incorrectly. Anyone want some autographs?
The day started off at the Gap bus depot. From there we were all in need of a brunch. A new place, for us, was chosen, Sarah's Corner Cafe. Looked sweet and Southern and quiet. Perfect. During breakfast we learned that Christian cannot do math, Katrina is adept at breaking & entering and we let Yuula order for us all.
Knowing the girls' penchant for period piece headgear we dropped by the Olde Engine Antiques on the way home to see if they could find any hidden treasures. Turns out they could. And turns out Yuula and I are natural head models.
I think they picked up 5 or six articles, which is good for them, but not for me who was not consulted on the decision for us all to then wear said headgear for the remainder of the evening. At least I got a pretty one.
We made them one of our favorites, Swedish beef curry, which worked Laura up into a tizzy in the kitchen, something she loves doing when it's not 9pm after a long day's work. She was even convinced to whip up a rhubarb pie when she heard that neither of our guests had ever ventured to try the stuff.
The rest of the evening went by too quickly but I remember it involved sewing machines, Green Man, a cabana, Bordeaux and a group effort in making a bed. Look here at these confusing photos.
Double Exposure! This is the beginning.

Laura & The Wigmakers
Christian and Katrina are in town visiting after their hairdressers union meeting in NYC this weekend. The girls are antique store hopping buying up every vintage hat and little girl spring dress they can find. I got good music in my head so I'm good. Looking forward to dinner tonight.

The South Is Full Of Friends
Ahh the South. Land of rain and ice and paralytic traffic on every road. Or at least since we've been down here.

At least the ride down was nice weather. Twelve hours down to Greensville is not nearly as rough as the full 16 it would've taken to get to Atlanta. And around 11 and a half Yuula decided she'd had enough of her carseat. She gave us her first ultimatum. Good thing we expected it.

First stop was Budd's. It was quick but effective, in the way that Budd got to hold Yuula and we go to listen to the Elf soundtrack about 9 times. Plus Budd's place has some great photo ops in the form of wall hangings. We snapped when he wasn't looking.

The next morning was a delightful ride thru the mountains into Jasper where we met Barb & Bill for a little meet the baby and a little Waffle House. It was here that we knew she was our baby by her reaction of unbridled joy and elation just being inside such a splendid place as the house of waffle. The waitresses could be less creepy tho.

From there we headed south towards our old home, the Canton Mill Lofts. When we lived there all the security gates were broken and it was easy to sneak in. Of course now that we want just wanted to literally take a walk down memory lane, the place is tighter than Fort Knox. And we couldn't remember the gate code.

Next on the stop list was the Fallon residence to see Kheli and her gigantic belly, so that Yuula can meet her future boyfriend. It's an arranged relationship. Kheli and her mother are at home waiting til her planned C-section, which is actually today at 3:15, so they welcomed some company to take their minds off the wait.

We planned to meet Jeff & Michelle but this is where the ice started coating the streets and Georgians are not equipped to deal with such a natural disaster. Mentally they don't have the salt. We postponed and headed to Acworth at 5mph to get some rest.

The next morning we went out to meet some of the old McEachern girls, Tiffany, Christian & Ashton. They all seemed to be quite happy in their current lives, as differing as the may be, and it's fun to think we all used to spend some good times skipping around a dirty gym to an Aphex Twin song.

Yuula met the Big Chicken.

We passed by the offices of Loud Security, the workplace of one Christina Smith. I played with the zen rock garden in the lobby and I finally realized what I want for Christmas. But full size, not the desk toy. Make it happen Santa.

We were feeling the effects of being in a car for almost 3 full days so we quick stopped by the enormous liquor store to buy some Taj Mahal Indian beer and then scurried back to the Krupp residence to introduce Yuula to Uncle Brian, Aunt Asriel, Aunt Theresa and cousins Madison and Charlotte over some French bread pizza. The rest of the family comes this weekend, but it's best in small doses.

stay tuned for more from Christmas South...
