Block Mommy Robot

After lunch today I heard a loud crash from Yuula's room so while I was waiting for the processor to run I went to check it out. She had destroyed whatever previous incarnation her blocks where in and now wanted to build "Mommy".

So we did.

That's a nice sweater Mommy.

Someday and at some point stacking blocks will no longer be impressive or interesting enough to take photos of and subsequently post about on the internet for the whole world to see and gush over, tell their friends about and immediately make their computer wallpaper.

Today is not that day.

We Can Be Careful, See

Yuula stacked these blocks two days ago. They've stood for two days. I noticed and took this picture last night. The amazing part is that she stacked them right at the door between the living room and the dining room, a heavy traffic area for sure, but they somehow managed to stay standing for two days. That means two adults and one toddler, either consciously or subconsciously, walked over and around a stack of blocks about 2 feet off the ground, for two days. Were we trying to prove something? What was so special about this particular block stack? Is this Yuula's finest work to date?

None of that matters now. I knocked it over when i went downstairs for tea in the pitch black around 5:15am.

From The West They Come

The Krupps of the west have arrived at long last

They got a soggy tour of the outdoors

Yuula showed off her block skills to some pros

I still can't believe this happened

After a hefty meal of Swedish beef curry we smashed the plates in the backyard as is our newly acquired custom to shake up dinner parties

The rest of the night was dedicated to dancing off the chutney

Yuula did a couples routine with her mother

Her controller skills need quite a bit of developing

The boys have done this before, and they were not playing around

today, we drag them into the belly of the beast...

Block Knocker

DSC_0020

At Yuula's checkup on Wednesday I was asked if she can stack blocks. I had no idea. She's not big on stacking blocks but she's awesome at knocking them down. We set 'em up, she knocks 'em down. We three make a good team. We can barely keep up with her. We continue to spread out the stacks so it takes her more time to get from one to the next but he's still pretty good.

See if you can spot the hidden message (hint below*).

And in case you were worried, yes, she can stack blocks, but she has the rest of her life to work. We'll let her smash some stuff while she still can.

Weird Week In Between

The time between Christmas and New Year's is always very strange for me. My body can't decide if I'm still on a holiday or if it's back to weekday workday like usual. I have my regular but it's with Christmas cookies. I listen to music while I work but it's Christmas carols. And I'm still turning on the lights out on the house at night, so...

Here's the past couple days, post-Christmas

Here's Yuula as what can best described as her pink nightmare phase, possessed kitty-dog and all.

Vic and Laura had a labyrinth showdown. Neither made it past turn 7, tho Laura gave up much earlier while Vic stayed up late into the evening alone in the dining room.

While Yuula was taking a nap the other day I decided to build her a nice sturdy structure she could topple first thing when she wakes up. She did.

We got a package in the mail from Yuula's boy-love in GA. Maybe we left that sweater behind on purpose.

Vic and Danielle served up some delicious pasta with sauce from scratch like only Italians can. We stretched it out over 7 meals.

And Yuula has added yet another aspect to her evening dance routine. A dance partner named Angelina the Ballerina. I can't tell who has better technique.
