Warming Up To The Rink
Laura took the child to the rink this morning. I stayed home to buckle down. Met up with bestie Isa and dragged her around and around, probably knocking over many small children along the way. I heard she did well, played with others, shared her ball, rollerstepped about the place and ran in horror from Elmo. But still no chicken dance. I say good grief.
This is twice I've missed the rollerskating. Don't really care to go for three.

Xanadon't
Yuula went roller skating yesterday. I wasn't there but I got first-hand accounts of how we may have a future anti-socialite on our hands. They played the hokey-pokey, she did not. They played the limbo, she declined participation. They had a race, she forfeit. They played "rat catch", she sat out (I don't blame her on that one). Apparently she just wanted to shuffle about the rink in her plastic skates. She must've been taking it very seriously.
Oh there was a time to get down and wild of course, but it was at the restaurant they went for lunch.
They have venue-confusion.

Many Walks After Many Works
I don't know where we've been. Or how the time went so fast. But such is the way of a vacation week, always. Tomorrow is the last day and we plan on relaxing as much as possible. We got a lot of work done and crossed off 80% of our to-do list. Not bad. That lawn will be there next week.
So here are some of the finer moments. Or at least the finer ones we caught on film.
you lookin' at my burger?
that's coconut tea over that clementine
she's going to color herself in
making a spring comeback
celebrate! it's night night
we're not good at hide and seek yet
Suddenly the wheels are in motion
And I I'm ready to sail any ocean
Suddenly I don't need the answers
Cos I I'm ready to take all my chances with you
Little Xanadu again, I can't help it.

Not Quite Xanadu
Talk of taking the girls rollerskating sounded promising. I couldn't help but envision clear plastic visors and thin braided headbands. I think the last time I was in a rink for rolling was the 80's. The late 80's, but still. And while the attempted decor did not disappoint, the overall experience was less than worthy of Olivia Newton-Johns' roller-themed fantasy world. I got to watch that movie as an adult. I'm not even sure what it was about.
The girls had a decent time tho, mainly claiming the far end of the rink, the empty end, their own, and while being held Yuula mainly wanted to kick around a bouncy ball and trade of turns pushing and riding in the pink scooter with Isabella.
And I knocked over some little girl.
