The Family Resolute

Yuula has a resolution. To wear ponytails.

Laura's resolution is basically the family eating healthier and more sit down dinners around the table. I can get down with that. She's off to a good start since she's dubbed today the official start of the homemade soup season.

I also have a few resolutions.
  1. Eat a lobster
  2. Use the word nigh a lot
  3. Start referring to my office as the observatory
  4. Make a charitable donation
  5. Work on my penmanship

I've already done one of these. You'll never guess which.

Out With The Green, In With The Blue

1293831956328

I've decided on a New Year's resolution: take better care of my teeth. It's a three step process.
  1. New toothbrush. I got it for Christmas. My old toothbrush I've had for about 6 years now. It is green, but it wasn't always. The new one is blue and is called an Oral-B Pulsar. It pulses. It has an on & off switch. I really like it. It makes me brush nice and slow. I pulled a piece of apple skin that's been in there since Monday.
  2. Floss. Never did it. I think we have some, but for some reason I am very excited about getting some floss going in there. I think I'm gonna find some hidden treasures.
  3. Mouthwash. It's delicious.
So that's all I'm promising to right now. I may think of more as the night goes on. Never been one to make resolutions, or at last follow thru with them. They're usually forgotten by President's Day.

Resolutely This Year

in no particular order...
  • sit up straighter
  • figure it out
  • build the wood pile
  • watch more black & white movies
  • take a step with the driveway
  • set the timer on the TV so we don't wake up to crazy Japanamation at 5am
  • eat more yogurt
  • eat less yogurt
  • do things better
  • be less fat and tired
  • call it quits
  • organize socks
  • start good things
That about does it.

No Year's Resolution

A woman on the radio this morning was speaking about new year's resolutions. She was saying how we as a people should take the resolutions more seriously, like she does, and that she has decided that 2008 was going to be her best year yet. I thought that was a very odd thing to say. I tried to think of what my "best year" had been so far. It had to be like 1979 or something, I mean I didn't even have to worry about going to the bathroom, and the naptime, OH the naptime. Then I wondered about the obsession with having your "best year ever", why we should feel like we have to constantly outdo ourselves, year after year. Making resolutions at the start, forgetting about them 10 days later. I mean they're always the same; 1) Save Money, 2) Eat Right/Lose Weight, 3) Quit Smoking/Drinking. I'd like to know the percentage of resoultions made that are actually followed thru on. I'm guessing in the 2-4% range. So this year my resolution is, to not make any resolutions. Just like I did going into 1979.
