Taking His Talents

For the first time ever, we may actually try and catch most of the NBA finals. I, and more importantly, Laura, has really gotten into the last few games we watched and the storybook drama involved (2006 repeat, big 3 villains) makes it too good to be true. Laura has even been able to hear past the squeaky sneakers and enjoy watching the games. So, tonight is game one. The well documented season the Heat has had, vilified, sympathized, empathized, championed, heralded, etc. is all too polarizing. And the heartstrings being pulled for Dirk Nowitzki, his legacy, his last chance, really makes it tough to choose who to root for. I do hate Mark Cuban tho, so I wouldn't want to encourage his idiotic behavior or existence.

So how do I think it'll turn out...

Ending Up In Indianapolis

Another historic summer came to an end this past weekend as Cadets wrapped up their 2008 season at DCI finals in Indianapolis. Boy that sounded like a dead serious news broadcast. Let's go to the highlights...

And for the first time we had the banquet the next day after finals instead of waiting for the winter. It was nice to see people after a time away but it did drag the season out unnecessarily. So.. good times.

Not too many good shots of the banquet. Just hugging which never makes for a good photo op.

Apple Chamomile Tea For Me

Back from DCI's in Pasadena. It was as dramatic as expected, and equally non-stimulating. Had fun hanging with "the gang" and a few old friends, but I'm more than glad to be back home. It's a drastic outta site/outta mind situation.

Hung out with Curtis most of the time. We're both cursed with the "free time" (as you can see) and aren't afraid to utilize it. The area we were staying in was much more mountainous than I had expected but not quite as green & lush. Actually, I felt like we were in the desert most of the time; my favorite.

So here's a group shot of the staff

And one of the team before prelims

Overall, they did great. Gotta hand it to them they really pulled it out this year. Good for them.

On a different note, I'm worried for the Mets, but I will keep the faith. Only a 3 game lead on the Phillies, and 3.5 on those bastard Braves. There's always the wild card.
