Don't Think About Elephants

inception

I just watched Inception. It's been burning a hole thru its Netflix envelope for like 2 weeks now. I'm surprised it took me almost a year to see it, but such is parenthood. I can't remember the last film we saw in a theater. It may have been Avatar. That's a shame. But this movie was pretty terrific. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd watch it again if just to enjoy the dream within a dream within a dream within a dream, the logic and the parallels; it made me laugh out loud. Pretty frigin cool with the struggle in the hotel halls while the van is flipping and the whole time lapse thing. And a perfect ending if you ask me. You kinda have to see it. Well done Christopher Nolan. Now go make another Batman movie.

Dream Get Together

Hildegard von Bingen, Lhasa, and Patsy Cline come down from heaven. They choose a glorious chapel with sunlight streaming in and we sing for hours, a cappella style. Meanwhile Charlie Chaplin does stunts with the Catholic paraphenalia (wafers, candlesticks, crosses.) Rokia Traore comes in to sing and play guitar, Barrington Levy calls from outside--he's brought the Barrett brothers as rhythm section. Fela brings his sax. We dance.

Demented Mind Asleep

The TV was on the wrong wall, the wrong side of the room, and it wasn't working. And rather than bring the TV down to the car we brought the car to the TV, which somehow of course got upside-down in our bedroom causing quite an obstacle you can imagine. We called our neighbor, a black man who was for some reason dressed like Wonder Woman.

"Our TV broke and the car is upside down in the bedroom."

"I have someone for that"

There may or may not have been a piñata involved. What ever happened to visions of sugarplums?

Good Morning, Yoko?

This morning I woke with a rather vivid image of a cake-faced Yoko Ono. You see, we were at her bungalow buying dog food. Apparently she sells it. One large bag of top grade Plastic Ono Chow that came at a pretty stiff price, and we don't even own a dog. Oh and don't worry, it wasn't all business. She was kind enough to play a few tracks from her upcoming album Well, Actually, I Am Indeed a Witch and serve us large pieces of chocolate cake that quickly found their way to spreading themselves all over faces.

That said, I think I'm getting over this cold. Thank God it was a short one. I've been more and more prone to these nasty bouts with snot & flem the past few years, but this time I came to the party prepared. I have a wife who knows how to take care of me and keeps an army size supply of vitamin C in the house.

Miami & I don't always get along. Last time I got the flat tire. This time I got the cold. When standing in a parking lot between a carnival and a karaoke bar, Miami always picks the karaoke bar. Miami doesn't think it's funny to drink a giant wine glass full of milk. Miami wears sweatshirts under palm trees. Miami & me could never be friends, only accomplices.

Ahem...

Don't ask. :)

I'm off to Buffalo. Whoopie! Vinnie is always entertaining so...should be an okay time. I'll be back tomorrow night and then off on tour this weekend. Double Whoopie! Almost done. Keep on swimming.
