Closing Up Office

Finale tonight. I think we'll watch. Haven't been such loyal fans to the American remake, but do hold the original dear to our hearts, so maybe out of alternate universe allegiance to David Brent. He did end the BBC version is such an beautiful way, I have hope he had maybe a finger or two in on this one. Even tho I think it should've just ended there (above) I guess "wrapping things up" is necessary when playing to such a fickle audience. So... here it goes... ending... just like the Knicks tonight... maybe...

Root For NYC With An OKC Backup

Saw this new SI cover and remembered it's NBA finals time. I don't get too worked up over these games, maybe watch the finals, but i will follow them. I think the Knicks can actually make it out of the first round, poor Carmelo. But when they undoubtedly get booted from the competition I will be rooting for this guy, because nobody likes a dynasty.

Blowouts, Baths & Burning Tongue

This was my day.

We spent the entire morning retracing Laura's steps from yesterday because she lost her check. Her very first live check after cancelling her direct deposit and it has disappeared. It could be at Nissan. It could be at the outlets. It could be in the kitchen somewhere. I think we'll never know. But that was a debacle.

Then in the last two twenty four hours both active sports teams I root for were demolished in heartbreaking and quite honestly, embarrassing losses. Mets by 9 to the Rockies last night and today the Knicks lost game one of the playoffs by 33 to Miami. This is going to sound like a bitter fan but LeBron James should be nominated for an Oscar. If that's how he has to do it to win, I hope he can convince himself it's legit.

So tonight I made some eggs and toast and gave Yuula a bath. I gooped on the new pepper jam I bought from Ross & Ross the other day. There should've been a "no-gooping" warning because I spent the next 15 minutes cooling my tongue with a glass of ice. Yuula had strawberry.

Now I wait for Laura to get home and we do it all over again.

Describe My Perfect Date

C360_2012-04-25-19-05-03

Favorite birthday in a long time. Started off with a a surprise gift bag on the kitchen table containing new sweatshorts (since mine have recently been deemed unsavory to wear in mixed company), a case of ginger beer, and my very own boppy which I know is a baby pillow but they are so comfy and really help me not wake up with a stiff neck. So now everyone in the house has their own. No more middle of the night ransacking. Then a visit to Yuula's doctor where she got a clean bill of health and two needles in the leg. But she's a pro now. Shook it off before we left the office. Plus it was quite nice to visit their new office. So official. And as long as they still hand out pretzel rods, they're out pediatricians.

We stopped in at Ross & Ross to see if we were fit to be tree owners and it turns out that we had more confidence in ourselves than we thought. Kathy spent about two hours with us talked us thru the whole process so we love her now. Plus she gave Yuula a little ladybug shovel. New favorite nursery. Three trees tagged and ready for pickup, hopefully tomorrow but right now the truck is full of bulk trash so...

Couple tacos for lunch and some lite grocery, then home. Yuula tried to take a nap but I think she was more excited about my birthday than me. I tried to motivate to get outside to do a little yardwork but the rain was on and off and the bed was so comfy. But that was just a quick nap, then onto afternoon dance party and making dinner, of which Yuula was quite the helping hand I hear.

And, as it is in on an Estler birthday...

She helped herself to this one, too.

Not too bad. Laura let me watch both Mets & Knicks game with minimal groaning and they both won. I fell asleep letting her catch up on New Girl and getting an ear rub. Seriously, I don't know what more I could've asked for.

No Hubby/No Daddy

C360_2012-03-04-16-36-07

That's right! I am free for the afternoon. No changing diapers. No work. No meals where all I eat is what she doesn't. No chores. No kiddy shows on Sprout. Yuula was invited to a birthday party and she brought her mother along. I don't even know where they are. I am set up at the computer right now, gonna listen to some new music, watch some basketball, eat some treats and maybe even watch one of those movies (that only I'd like) that I've been trying to find time for. I really should go out and start raking leaves or maybe begin the redesign of the old shed interior but... I ain't.

Asian Man Plays Basketball

138700894_crop_650x440

Call it the dismal realization of the 2 months between football ending and baseball starting but it looks like I am jumping onto the bandwagon here. I have always said (to myself) that were I to be big into basketball, being loyal to my local, I would be a Knicks fan. The problem has been there's not much to get a potential fan excited about fanning himself over these past few seasons with the Knicks. For a second it looked like they may get LeBron and I actually looked into ticket prices. It wasn't to be. But then they picked up Amar'e Stoudmire and my ears perked up. And then this offseason they went out and got Carmelo Anthony and Mike Bibby who I remember watching play for Atlanta and liking quite a bit. Rounding it out with Tyson Chandler from the reigning champs and my favorite player in the whole league, Baron Davis (I mean, c'mon, the beard is amazing). Now all of the sudden it looks like the Knicks have something to watch, but still I was finding it background noise.

Until this week.

I caught a whiff of Jeremy Lin in passing Sportscenter highlights and so-on, asking "can he keep this up?" and "where did he come from?" and it didn't even register that he was on the Knicks. But I actually sat down last night and watched the game from tip-off and it was completely worth it. Taking down the Lakers like that, outscoring the great Kobe, and smiling thru the whole thing. I did find it suspect how the ESPN cameramen kept seeking out the Asian people in the crowd, but it was too fun a game to worry about the socialogical effects of race and culture on the ignorant media and I am not gonna join the conversation of whether or not he can continue on this record setting pace and give us a show like that every night, but I do know one thing... I have never went online to find out when the next Knicks game was.

Until today.
