Got home yesterday, bottom of the 8th, just in time to see the Mets squeak one out against Florida. The drive's getting shorter. That's good news since I still have to make it 4 more times.
Camp was fine tho. Thanks for asking. Actually getting a lot done. Could be because Greg is there pushing along the writing process, or maybe we're all just kinda locked in and got our eyes on the prize. I'm sure there'll be a holdup at some point tho. For instance, songs are still not finished and it's a good thing I came home this week, because I think they need some time to catch up.
So let me see if I can touch on a few of the highpoints that went down after Memorial Day.
Memorial Day itself meant Goodwill, Chinese food & the lovely Johnstown mall. Alex was excited.
I had everyone standing around waiting for me at the Goodwill while I scoured the racks and came away with a cartfull of treasures.
The Chinese food in Main Moon is remarkably good for a small mountain town, but we decided it was wise to keep away from the pastries.
The mall left little to be desired, but we did cram into a photo booth for a group shot. Haven't done that in awhile. Unfortunately that photo is on the door back at the university, so a shot of us in the lot will have to suffice.
The next day things started to get cold and rainy, but we kept things bright by showing off the previous days' Goodwill buys.
Here is when Geoffrey needed some of my beard hairs for the murder game. Gotta love these kids.
Wednesday is when things got very interesting. We decided to go to a local bar called Lucille's on what turned out to be karaoke night.
Must be something in the water there in Johnstown because not a single person hit a single note in any song. Michael and I threw our hats in the ring, he with a spot on Elvis with "Ain't Nothing But A Hound Dog" and I took on the beast that is "Sweet Child O' Mine". If you ask me it was a terrible performance, but as I exited the bar I received more than a few high-fives and positive comments concerning my moderately inspiring act.
We took over the backroom pool table
Michael karaokes and the locals will never be the same
I gave it a go, begrudgingly
A first attempt at a group shot
A second attempt
Friday was our first actual "performance". We spent most of the day reviewing so we wouldn't be a complete disaster. It was chilly so we all decided to wear the sweaters I had so wisely purchased at the Goodwill on Memorial Day.
Daniel & I
When showtime came the powers that be made a last second decision to go with a standstill, so the guard got to sit on the front sideline and watch. Good waste.
Oh, and here's some actual colorguard.
I'll be back on Saturday. For now, I'll enjoy the week.
