Mets came out swinging last night against the mighty mighty Diamondbacks and despite a so-so performance by John Maine, came out on top 7-2. Reyes hit the first pitch of the game for a triple and went on to come a couple feet from hitting the cycle, Church homered, Wright left the park, Delgado went 2 for 3 with a walk, all against the toughest pitching staff in MLB. And I can't help think it had something to do with the return of Mets elder, Moises Alou. Alou just seems to put the Mets players at ease, give them some otherworldly peace of mind. Even I was thinking the Mets were about to be swept out of Arizona, then I heard Alou was back playing left field. Something about that guy. He's a special guy.
Real test will be tonight with Pelfrey facing Dan Haren and then what could be a ridiculous pitching matchup with golden boy Santana facing Brandon Webb, who is a scary 6-0. You gotta lose sometime Webb.
